Another thing fandom needs to start doing more of is projecting on tops.

There are delicious amounts of psychological distress you can inflict on that guy once you get into his head. The brainworms of forcing agency and initiative on someone who genuinely is Not Fucking Ready For It are exquisite.

To quote myself: Domtops in fics are always written to have such uncomplicated and healthy relationships to their sexualities and for my mental health I need us to collectively start giving them complexes about being some kind of monstrous predatory freak of nature instead.

Make that guy have a panic attack b/c someone in his daydream told him to stop and he kept going anyway.

New and improved! Sad Wet Dog of a top is thinking about how he wants to hurt you but doesn't want to hurt you and the contradiction is slowly and steadily making him Lose His Whole Fucking Mind.

me reading straight up pornography: hmm… this one just doesn’t have enough accurate character psychoanalysis to get me off

i think at this point the only thing that will help me finish my WIP is recruiting an Enemy so i'm seeking someone who:

  • is about halfway thru a long-ish WIP (80k-100k?)
  • wants to update me on their progress at least every few days. maybe we'll have a joint spreadsheet or something so i can see immediately when my wordcount lags behind theirs
  • ideally they will also send me occasional snippets of their WIP and ideally those snippets will be sooo so bad
  • i need my Enemy to be super annoying. like, i need them to fully believe they are one of the best living writers. i need them to belittle other fandom members. maybe they'll also talk about their "fans". how many kudos they expect to get. how many comments they are owed.
  • i need them to have a normal pace of writing. like, 1k on a good day. 2k on an excellent one. if they're one of those freaks who can easily bash out 5k+ in one sitting, there's nothing i can do with that.
  • able to do writing sprints sometime during a GMT afternoon a bonus but not essential

immediate start available, part-time, fully remote. zero perks other than u get to talk about yourself at length and in a super arrogant way, which ideally u will love to do. interested parties pls apply within.

Huge shout out to all the people who read fics. Who actually take the time out of their busy days to open a fic and read it

Before I started writing in earnest, I did not understand how much writing was going to eat into my fic reading time. We joke about having too many tabs open, but I have a different problem: the amount of tabs I have open on new fics is way smaller than it used to be. My ao3 wrapped would be a sad affair. Unless I’ve subscribed to an author or come across something on my dash, I basically don’t see it

Which has really driven home for me how much fandom cannot just be creators. You have to have people who want to read fic and meta discussions and joke posts. You have to have people who want to look at art and gifs. It has to be mutual.

Community thrives on flow. You have to have that movement of people sharing things with each other for a community to exist

Thank you fic readers. You keep things flowing

damn i wish u guys could read this fic i haven't written and this fic i haven't finished writing and this fic i'm putting off outlining and this fic i outlined but haven't started and this fic i'll never write and this other fic i haven't written and this fic that exists only in vague impressions in my head that fall apart every time i try to commit them to the page and th

you're not turning your fandom hobby into a job are you? giving yourself deadlines and quotas that you have to meet? focusing on the numbers instead of your enjoyment of the act of creation?

you're not taking your love of something and using it as a tool to hurt yourself are you? loving it so hard that you forget to take care of yourself? telling yourself that people only care about you because of what you make and that they'll stop if you take a break? pushing yourself to work instead of rest so that the thing that used to give you joy and energy is now also burning you out, like everything else?

3 and 30 for the 2025 fic asks! <3

ahhh CITRUSSES!! hello!!!

3. What's something NEW that you tried in a fic? i think the newest thing i tried was a noncon fic with thy will be done (5k tomarry pwp) – i also tried to play with mindfuckery and religious imagery a bit in that one too, which usually is not my go-to! (i think i landed a bit short of what i was aiming for in all three categories tbh, but i had the fic concept in a draft for aaaages so i'm just glad it's done!!) 30. What would you like to write next year? i'm truly desperate to finish my current chaptered WIP – atm i have 56k done and i'm expecting it to come out around? 80k? i would looove to have the first draft finished by end of jan and edits done by spring but i also i don't reeeeally want to write to a deadline bc that's the easiest way to make me hate the whole thing. so ig we'll just have to see how it pans out :') if i were better at writing chaptered fics, next year i'd love to also finish the two others that i've basically abandoned (both drarry)! i'd love to write more 15kish-word fics, bc those are such a sweet spot for me! i'd love to write more fics for non-hp fandoms! however!! probs won't lol

thank u for being here, u beautiful lemon!! 🍋

for the year in review questions:

11. What fic was the most satisfying to finish?

13. What is the most interesting topic you researched for a fic?

and

if there is a question you really want to answer then that one too :)

ooo hey anna!! ❤️

11. What fic was the most satisfying to finish? might be cheating with this answer but i think it was worth a thousand words (18k "will u fuck me as a favour" dron), which i posted late december last year. BUT i'd had the concept of that fic in my drafts for literal years as a drarry fic – and switching it to dron and actually finishing it felt so gooooood 🙏 13. What is the most interesting topic you researched for a fic? last month when trying to understand the notes that 2023!me had made in the WIP i finally picked up again recently, i went on a huge deep dive into knobbly purple root vegetables. this was for one single throwaway line and has absolutely no bearing on the plot of the fic. and bonus: 28. If this were an awards show, who would you thank? doubtlessly i will forget someone but: you, @annanother-thing, for being so kind as to ask these questions! @elskanellis for orchestrating the bingo event that got me properly working on my dreaded WIP again! @xalandrix for encouraging me back into society (a discord server)! @appleslightning and @pl0tty for jumping into my DMs when i was grumpy about the aforementioned dreaded WIP and convincing me not to abandon it entirely (and sunny again for the incredible draco commission she did for it recently)! @decaflondonfog for being so lovely when i jump into their DMs out of nowhere with a fic i want them to beta, and for saying to me with such dismay "oh my god you talk about pens as if they are your friends", which i will remember fondly forever! @lastontheboat for inexplicably continuing to expertly podfic things i've written! everyone who has ever taken time out of their lives to help me with a fic!! everyone who has written amazing things that i've gobbled up!! everyone who has been nice about things i've written and/or about me!! and most importantly, the people who annoy me so much that it's actually motivating 🥹❤️ couldn't do it without em.

thank u again anna!! ❤️

10, 21, 27 for the end of year fic game!!! 💌

leooo hi 🥹❤️

10. What fic made you feel the happiest to work on? kicking things off with a complicated one eh!!!! happiest to work on…… probably a quick smutty fic i wrote for a non-hp fandom. it's sub-1k and is not particularly good or complex, but only took me a few days and caused very little emotional turmoil!! a big win!!!! 21. Share the funniest line(s) you wrote this year god. erm. there's a lot of dick jokes in small talk (4k harry/george pwp), which i had a lot of fun writing, but maybe this is the funniest to me? i don't think it's particularly funny out of context – and probably not even in context lmao. it just tickles my brain when prose doesn't take itself seriously, yk? Harry glances at the others, who are smiling indulgently with the confidence of those whose pants are positively stuffed full of their own schlongs. 27. Think back on everything you've worked on since January and give yourself a compliment. A real one! Be nice to yourself. HMMM i guess i would say… nice one on chilling out a bit about the things u post? like, i'm not a particular fan of anything i posted in 2025, but i used to feel much worse about posting fics that i feel are of a similar level of quality. this year i've just not really cared, lmao. (ultimately a bad thing? maybe! but good for my brain? def.)

these were such wholesome questions @moonmanatee!! thank u for asking them!!!! 🥹🥹🥹
