Knock the air out of my lungs

Everybody has to start somewhere so I don't usually like to put down resources that are clearly meant for beginners, but I do think if you're seriously engaging with those Writer Tips Posts that say things like "HOW TO SHOW ANGER IN WRITING: they cross their arms" you do not need to be studying Writing Blogs you need to pay attention to other human beings more often.

Honestly being more intentional with your observation will fix a LOT of common problems with all kinds of different storytelling. A thing I see all the time in comics especially is an issue where it's clear the writer learned to write dialogue by watching anime dubs rather than listening to real people conversing, or relying on iconic animation gestures rather than interpreting real life behavior. If you find yourself struggling literally just go hang out in different public spaces and watch what's going on one or two days a week and I think it'll help.

I haven’t been on this app in a while, but I know a Black man, Keith Porter, was murdered by ICE on New Year’s Eve (Rest in Power) in Cali. Just one of the countless Black people who’ve been murdered by ICE and other agents of the state.

I log back into this app and see the conversations around the white woman, Renee Good, who was just recently killed. And I can’t help but notice the stark difference in circulation of news and boosting of stories between both of them across this app…

Shit has BEEN happening to Black people across administrations and is currently happening to Black people under this administration, and is met by crickets. Yet when it starts touching white people, I see real anger start being felt from the gen pop followed by amplification and co-opting of Black terms and memorialization… I stg it takes everything in me to give af about yall.

"Friends and family of the 43-year-old man who was fatally shot by a Department of Homeland Security agent in Northridge on New Year's Eve gathered on Sunday to demand accountability and hold a candlelight vigil for their lost loved one."

I was talking with my writing instructor on how it can be excruciating to put too much of yourself into a book and then have people read it, and she was like “I know exactly what you mean, I always have to tell my mother ‘this character isn’t based on you; their issues are not our issues, I promise.’”

and I was nodding along and going “yeah, yeah, totally” but what I’d meant was all the weird old man bdsm scenes.

anyway, my parents got their hands on a copy of Apparently, Sir Cameron Needs to Die, so very soon I'm going to walk into a lake and never come out

GOODBYE EVERYONE

update to this: my parents have come to a decision that benefits us all. there is no mention of the book. they have memory holed it, and that is how we will continue onward in this world. there was no other way.

follow-up to the last post: if you are looking for a specific book and are in the united states, check worldcat. It has access to the catalogues of every public, university, and special library that belongs to OCLC (which is just about everyone), and will tell you where you can find the book (this includes digitally, such as through hathitrust and internet archive). And even if the thing you're looking for is far away, being a member of OCLC means they probably participate in inter-library loans, so you can request the book through your local library.

please use worldcat. it's wonderful. tell everyone you know

The year is 21XX. Miraculously, Tumblr still exists as a somewhat popular brainchip application used largely by neofujoshis and fandomites. One day, a dumb low-effort shitpost by a member of one of the few remaining tgirl posting cells blows up, spreading across the neuronetwork like a wildfire. The therian tgirl who posted it, a hacktivist who augments cybernetics as a hobby, finding itself frustrated by the tags being completely filled with male characters despite the post clearly being about girls, and decides to edit the post. As per Chipblr policy, the edit is immediately applied to every instance of the post across the neuronetwork, but due to a century’s worth of tech debt from the poorly programmed website, the text of the edited post bypasses a vulnerability in the programming of the most popular brainchip models, immediately executing the new text as code. All the brainchips of every user who viewed the post immediately prompt their users to list one (1) female character they genuinely care about, stating that the chip will continue to increase in temperature unless genuine positive emotion is detected by the chip. What was intended as a harmless prank by a tgirl hacktivist turns into one of the deadliest cyberattacks in history, as thousands of fandomites and neofujos across the remains of what was once the United States are killed due to their inability to care even slightly about a single fictional woman. Decades after this unpreventable tragedy, F/F to M/M fanfic ratios across the English speaking internet have come closer to parity than ever in recorded history with an astonishing ratio of 30% F/F to 70% M/M

me: truly a well crafted tragedy is such a bittersweet pleasure to take in and serves a purpose, not just as a sad story but as a reminder that even that which ends badly might not have happened in vain or for nothing. The love, the grief, the actions still meant something simply for having taken place and for us partaking in it.

me when said tragedy is about to actually unfold, sweating: ok but consider this. i dont want this to happen

horror movies are so much scarier when the actors look like an average sampling of the human population. and the house is a little messy

when everyone has veneers and the house is pristine and tastefully decorated: (in the back of my mind) these people were hand-selected for visual appeal. this is a set. this is a story

when the actor has a little acne and there are dirty dishes in the sink: aaaaahhhhh this is just like Me and My House ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!

when everyone has veneers and the house is pristine and tastefully decorated: (in the front of my mind) these people had it coming

fuck my gay life. pharmacist asked for my ID when I was picking up my testosterone and instead of my driver’s license, I accidentally grabbed the fool tarot card I keep behind it in my phone case and went to hand that to her
