there’s absolutely something to be said about ‘booktok’ books being largely wattpad quality written erotica i’m certainly not reading them however having seen a guy on tiktok make a video like ‘all the women in your life are READING PORN’ about a book he picked up and read in his FEMALE FRIEND’S HOUSE in a tone of scandalised horror and disgust i actually don’t think men should be making those criticisms. he said he picked it up expecting a romance and was horrified it was GOONER SHIT he said specifically like ‘who are you getting your pussy wet FOR??’ in a tone of revulsion. idk man im not sure shes the weird one. i kind of wish you were dead

If you go to the vigcup tab on ao3 right now (ik scary) sure you’ll see dark fic (because Viggo is canonically a villain and those dynamics are so juicy to play with) but a lot of it nowadays is fluffy/smutty/relatively healthy relationship content where Viggo is redeemed
I myself contribute to the healthy vigcup content (also as someone who sees Viggo as like 28-32 at the oldest your 40 year estimate is very weird, no 40 yo can move the way Viggo does in the show he’s too fast and light on his feet to be 40 like come on you guys always move the goal post I saw someone say he was 40 then io it to 45 then say he was closer to 50 in another post)
Not everything in fiction correlates to real life
If you read/write/draw a depiction of torture with fictional characters simply because the thought crossed your mind and creativity struck and you wanted to bring it into the world, does NOT mean you condone torture
Honestly saying our hard drives need to be checked because we make “disturbing content” is incredibly offensive and insulting
You wouldn’t say that about horror movie directors, or dark fantasy novel writers, esp when it’s cis/het characters and everything falls into neat little boxes but when it’s slightly queer made by fans it’s automatically bad
I’m not going to speak for the whole of people who write darker content but most of us are just people with active imaginations that like putting blorbos in situations
We don’t condone what we write in the real world because yes if vigcup were in the real world I’d have a problem with it

But it’s fiction
And anything can happen in fiction
You can have your blorbos most hated enemy that tried to kill them multiple times redeem themself and be their devoted lover for all of eternity in fiction

Honestly! All of this! Yeah, okay, I'm a darkfic writer. I think that fucked up and toxic dynamics are super fun and interesting to write about. Because it's fucking fake. Why do people act like shipping is all about striving for what you personally want in a relationship rather than finding a dynamic between two characters interesting? I've always shipped hero/villain ships and enemies to lovers. Never in my life would I want any of this or wish it on anyone else.
I think Vigcup, Dagcup, and whump are fun, and if you don't please find the filter and block button. It's not that fucking hard to stay in your own lane.

It's been said before but the constant theft of Fishlegs' traits and giving them to Hiccup to make him a more appealing nerd just bc you find him hot is frankly appalling.
I know nobody likes fat characters but did you even watch the movie in which there is an entire scene of Fishlegs listing perfectly accurate dragon stats off the top of his head in rapid succession whereas Hiccup was frolicking in fields with toothless.
Out of the two of them Hiccup is not the bookworm memorizing dragon facts. He didn't even actually read the book of dragons, not thoroughly he read the first few pages and skimmed the rest (he hadn't even gone out of his way to read it prior to dragon training despite how Badly he wanted to be a dragon killer!). he learns best by experience, he is not sitting down to read for hours he's writing down scrambled notes based on field observations while Fishlegs is polishing them so they're actually legible are we fucking fr rn.
