The scar on Steve’s palm still feels warm.  The new team doesn’t remember. Jan’s gaze goes glassy when he brings it up: the incursions, the fight with the builders.  The world swarms on. There is still so much war in him.  At night Steve jogs his old bones by the river. The billboards shimmer. He swears their figures turn to follow him. Tony’s immutable seer eyes always on his body. An addict who won’t relinquish his grip on his last, lame, dirty secret.  The two of them tethered in every rotten chapter.  Do you remember, he asks Tony’s liquid-crystal face.

18+ 616 Steve/Tony Discord Book Club: Avengers: Twilight

It's time for Book Club on You Gave Me A Home, and I've decided we're having Avengers Book Club again and furthermore we're reading Avengers: Twilight again, because why not? I like it.

Avengers: Twilight is a six-issue miniseries from 2024, written by Chip Zdarsky, with art by Daniel Acuña. It's set in an alternate future AU and you don't need to have read any other comics to follow it. You can just read it. Twenty or so years in the future, most of the Avengers are dead, and the government has deserumed Steve for failing to prevent the disaster they died in. Steve is old, tired, depressed, and even after getting the serum again, he can't manage to fight the tyrannical fascist government -- until he discovers Tony is still alive.

So he rescues Tony from the Raft, and they get the Avengers back together, and they go save America. Also Tony is a disembodied head in a jar but Steve loves him anyway. They're both married to other people. Steve loves him anyway. This is peak Old Man Yaoi and you should definitely read it.
