LP Lives Here

@lunapwrites / lunapwrites.tumblr.com

Lunatik_Pandora on AO3. 18+, they/them, aspec bi-disaster. I keep my writing and art stuff here now I guess. TERFs can get fucked.

Masterlist of Fics

If you want to see the stuff that I'm even remotely proud of, you can find it here:

Louder Than Love - (Rated E, 134,734 words - WIP.)

Poly!Wolfstar+Tonks, OotP fix-it. If you like music references, nuanced family relationships, and banter (omg so much banter) then you may like this one. I'm honestly pretty proud of how this one is coming out overall, now that I'm getting into a groove. Contains fluff, humor, and angst. (18+, mind the tags.)

Satellites series - (Varying lengths and ratings.)

All the fun little one-shots and drabbles I've posted on here end up under this heading, with some cool moon references added for extra tone. You'll find the Beater!Remus drabble in here, as well as the Peter fics. Fluff and angst mostly (some humor here and there.) The majority is Wolfstar; there is one in there that is Poly!Wolfstar+Tonks. Also some art!

Ouroboros - (Rated T, 12,393 words.)

Remus taking care of his estranged father at the end of Lyall's life, and having to come to terms with his own feelings. Extremely angsty, extremely unreliably narrated. Technically part of the Satellites series; this is a divergence from the LTL plotline (so same background for Remus) and directly references it in parts. Can be read on its own just fine.

A Matter of Interpretation - (Rated M, 2,183 words.)

My interpretation of what actually happened with "the prank." Attempts to address the reality of hot-headed teenagers and their behavior. Literally no one comes out of this clean. It's angsty, but in a matter-of-fact kind of way.

for him. - (Rated T, 6.090 words.)

Remus & Harry bonding time. Realistic "pranks" that have nothing to do with magic and everything to do with Teenagers Doing Dumb Teenager Shit. Simple but candid discussions of sexuality. Also one of my favorite Remus vs Snape scenes I've ever written. Wolfstar, but no prior relationship. Mostly humor with a bit of reasonable angst.

Remus and Sirius making gingerbread men, but also a little bit Remus having no patience for the gender binary. Wolfstar with background Hinny. Humor and fluff with an undercurrent of angst.

three knocks upon the door - (Rated E, 6,998 words.)

A dark casefic that goes wildly off the rails, and my first foray into femslash. A rare Lily/Tonks with low key background Wolfstar! (And another rarepair, if you squint!) Possibly one of my favorite fics I've ever written. 18+, please mind the tags!!

Where the Wild Thyme Grows - (Rated M, 7,000 words.)

My first ever high fantasy fic! Featuring Dad!Sirius and a slightly unhinged Remus (and we love him for it.) Also Arthur and Molly being adorable together. It is a horror fic, though, so be warned! Dark themes and graphic depictions of injuries within.

Applied Theory - (Rated M, 6,698 words - WIP)

My Wolfstar Enemies-to-Lovers Academia AU! Raw posted here and ported straight to AO3. French!Sirius and Welsh!Remus. Includes technical discussions of magical theory (occasionally AP formatted), Shenanigans, and more French dialogue than I had any right using. Great fun though. :)

Nothing like playing "oh no we both caught a stomach virus at THE SAME TIME" hot potato with your partner riiiiiiiight during daycare pick up.

No LPs or Beans were harmed during this Benny Hill sequence.

Anti-Matter

Robin & Steve, 1.5k

Steve doesn't say anything when Will tells them all his big secret. Robin notices.

Robin snags Steve by the elbow as they’re packing up the truck and pulls him into the employee bathroom of the radio station. It feels weirdly circular, but it’s also the only place she’s reasonably certain they won’t be overheard or interrupted, and she needs to have this conversation before they go into— whatever it is they’re about to go into. The Upside Down, for one. “Jeez, Robin, what the hell?” “Sorry!” she says, when he pulls his wrist from her grip and rubs at it. “Sorry, I just needed to talk to you.” He looks at her like she’s losing it. “In the bathroom?” “No I mean— look, where doesn’t matter.” Robin makes sure the door is latched behind her, then slugs Steve in the shoulder. “That wasn’t cool back there. I know you’re cool with me so why didn’t you say something to Will?” If anything, Steve looks even more confused. “What are you talking about?” They don’t have time for this. “When Will said that stuff about what he was afraid of. We all told him it was okay, but you didn’t say anything.” “I totally said something.” “I was sitting right in front of you. You definitely didn’t say anything.” He stares at her for a second, then looks away, turns to face the mirror. Gotcha.

The next couple of weeks are going to be... difficult for me, personally.

I mean there's like... the obvious dissolution of social order occurring around me, which is awful in ways I cannot fully express, and the normal day to day post holiday goop on top of that, but also... Idk. Wondering what life would have looked like about now, if things didn't pan out as they did. It's like a little tick that burrowed into the back of my brain and just kinda lives there, and I don't really notice it unless I accidentally touch it. (Because it's never on purpose, Jesus Christ.)

Because the thing is I've been organizing all of Bean's old things for a friend and every thing I set aside for her feels like a funeral as much as an act of community. But that at least is more of a sad if fond bittersweetness. It's not the guilt that sucker punches me at 2am, or when I accidentally open the drawer where the books are while I was looking for a pen.

I can know that things felt wrong in my bones from the beginning and still think back to every single thing I did that might have started the chain of events. I can still acknowledge the feeling that this was inevitable every time Bean demands I carry her from room to room, every time she throws a fit (as toddlers do) and throws her little limbs in directions I can't fully comprehend, and with speed and power I did not anticipate. It's not blame, just resignation. The anger is reserved for myself for not being more careful, no matter what that means. Angry it happened. Angry it didn't. Angry that the world right now has me thinking it's okay, actually, maybe it's better this way. Imagine.

Mr LP bought a tree. I'm giving away all the things we'd saved. And we don't talk about it. Won't. Probably never will. Most people don't, I think. It'll just silently ride in the back of my brain until they put me in the ground. Ironic, when you think about it.

I know I'm far from the only one. I know someone's probably going to see this and think I should be grateful for what I have - and I am, don't get it twisted.

...But.

Anyway. Idk if there was really a point to this. I just needed to throw this somewhere that would be seen, esp in case anyone else is feeling like this, bc it sucks feeling like you're the only one even when you know logically that you're not. Like this is me feeling like Tom Hanks yelling at Wilson. Except I'm in the middle of the city.

I’m paying to force seven thousand strangers to see a photo of my late husband having fun with his dog. Tumblr Blaze is totally worth it. XD

Thank-you to all of my new Internet stranger friends for being so gracious about having my post shoved onto your dashboards. I loved reading all of your kind tags and comments! Both Martin and Bosco have been gone for several years now but for 24 hours, they felt very present in my life. I greatly appreciate this gift. ❤️

Reblog to have your dashboard be visited by the spirit of joy that death can end but not erase.

Love that this is well beyond 7000 people now and still going

@leavescrown Exactly! It’s a beautiful gift. Martin and Bosco out there travelling around the Tumblr community, continually making new friends.

#hello again martin and bosco!! sending you boys round for another go :)

Reading your tag made me laugh out loud. It’s like two old friends unexpectedly stopped by your porch for a quick visit. XD

I’ll always reblog Martin and Bosco when they splash across my dash, because of Reasons.

What’s loved, lives.

There is something truly beautiful in seeing a comment like that from someone so very loved and recently lost.

Yes, Peter, you’re absolutely right. What’s loved, lives. You three boys all come back around again to see me again soon, okay?

The big change I made, ultimately, in writing LTL and all the characterization shifts that follow, is that I ask the question of who Remus is without his deference to Dumbledore.

Who is he as a person? How would he behave? What choices would he make? How would those choices affect the course of events?

And I realize there's an argument to be made that he would never, and thus the entire premise is OOC. However, it's not like I just wrote him as "yo fuck that old bastard" right from chapter 1. I mean he gets there, eventually, but in that angry way of someone preparing to go no contact with a close relative after realizing how fucked up things are between them.

The thing about LTL is it's about dominoes.

Remus makes the decision to prioritize Sirius and his physical/mental well-being over a fruitless attempt to court the werewolves. To affect change on the one thing he KNOWS he can help with, instead of banging his head against another thing he knows he can't. That choice is the first domino.

Remus trusts Dumbledore. Trusts that he has their best interests in mind. Trusts that he can see that Sirius is not doing well, that he needs support, and that Remus is the best person to provide that support. Trusts that Dumbledore recognizes his skills enough to see he can be useful in other ways.

And Dumbledore proceeds to violate that trust, over and over and over again. He is persistent in pushing for Remus to return to his field duties. He does not take Remus' experience into account, nor his explanation when he literally illustrated the complexity of the situation for the entire Order, and not only his, but their inability to surmount the obstacles at hand. Dumbledore only sees his objective, and Remus as his only means of achieving it.

Likewise, there's his handling of Sirius: locking him up in the house with vague promises of legal assistance that he does not follow through on, or at least with any semblance of urgency. He is treated as a carrot on a stick for Harry, and a hostage for Remus, and nothing else. Remus is still coming to terms with this, and while frustrated is still conflicted. At least, up until this most recent chapter...

All of that to say that a true dissolution of trust in Dumbledore has been building, and I think toying with changing that core aspect of Remus' character has introduced some really interesting (and increasingly less subtle) shifts.

"Friends outside of Minnesota please read. I'm sharing a post written by a personal friend and medical doctor: Friends outside MN, you need to know what is happening here. Everyone knows that ICE shot and killed a woman here on Wednesday. But that’s not the only thing that’s going on:

  • ICE agents are cruising areas with immigrant-owned businesses, and kidnapping patrons and employees alike. Yesterday they abducted two US citizen employees at a suburban Target, one who was begging them to allow him to go get his passport to show them.
  • ICE is going door to door in immigrant-heavy neighborhoods, asking residents where their immigrant neighbors live. Read that again. If it sounds like something out of your high school history textbook, that’s because it is.
  • ICE is targeting schools and school buses. They pepper sprayed teenagers and abducted two school staff members at the high school up the street from me on Wednesday. Police are literally escorting school buses to ensure children can get to school and home safely. The Minneapolis Public Schools have moved to virtual learning for the next 4 weeks because it’s unsafe for children or teachers to physically come to school.
  • They are targeting hospitals and clinics. Patients are scared and are cancelling their appointments or just not showing up. Kids are missing their checkups and vaccines, folks aren’t getting their cancer care, etc.
  • They are smashing windows in cars and homes.
  • ICE is increasingly picking up Native Americans—again, targeting folks based on skin color alone.
  • They are arresting and beating legal observers. A friend of a friend had her arm broken yesterday. Folks are showing up at local hospitals, brought in in ICE custody, with severe injuries that are absolutely inconsistent with mechanism of injury reported by ICE. (Think: patient appears to have been beaten unconscious, while ICE agent says he slipped and fell.) I can’t emphasize enough that these ICE agents do not have warrants. There are 2,000+ agents here and they are simply hunting for anyone that’s not white. It doesn’t matter if you’re a citizen or a green card holder, they will kidnap you first and ask questions later. But the community is fighting back.
  • Protests are happening every day.
  • Community groups have been leading know-your-rights sessions for months, often to packed venues.
  • Whistles are being distributed by the thousands, carried on keychains and worn on coat zippers, always at the ready to be blown in warning if ICE is spotted.
  • Drivers are following ICE vehicles, blaring their horns in warning.
  • Businesses are locking their doors even while open to keep employees and customers safe. As I type this, I’m standing guard at the locked door of our neighborhood burrito joint while I wait for my takeout order, so the employees can focus on their jobs. The place is packed with neighbors supporting this small business.
  • Anti-ICE signs are posted everywhere. The community is making it crystal clear that ICE is not welcome here.
  • Parents and neighbors are standing guard outside schools, organizing carpools, and escorting kids to and from school on foot.
  • Parents of kids in Spanish-immersion daycare (there are a LOT of these daycares here!) are keeping their kids home so the teachers don’t have to take the risk of coming to work.
  • Churches and community groups are holding fundraisers to buy and deliver groceries to families who don’t feel safe leaving home.
  • Mutual aid money is going out to folks who can’t make rent because they can’t work or because a breadwinner was abducted, or who need a warm place to stay after their home’s windows were smashed. THAT is what is happening here. This fight is ongoing and it’s horrifying to watch. But we are not backing down. To my friends in other cities and states, don’t think for a minute that this won’t happen in your town. It will. Be ready. Learn from us, as we have learned from Portland and Chicago and New York. Fight back. Don’t let us get to the last line of Martin Niemoller’s poem.” -Grant Boulanger

Here's an AP news brief with a little more info. It's limited in the way major news outlets are right now but provides context that supports the personal account shared.

“Is he okay? Fucking tell me!”

“Go to your bench, Rozanov. I’m not going to tell you again.”

There are a million reasons why the concussion scene works, but what hit me the hardest is that it emphasises one of the biggest costs of being closeted: Not being considered Next of Kin.

If Ilya was Shane’s acknowledged partner, he would be given information immediately and supported to follow Shane to the hospital. Instead, he drifts backwards on his skates, all alone in an arena where the only person who understands why he *needs* to know is unconscious.

This has been the cost of the closet for as long as queer people have lived under the radar. Partners get injured, or die, and the love of their life isn’t “family” enough to be in the room. In that moment, Ilya understands so much more about what’s at stake.

Some of the tag responses on this one absolutely annihilated me, so for your viewing pleasure:

I will periodically reblog this post with new tag commentary highlights, until the inevitable heat death of the internet.

contrary to popular belief not everyone has an innate sense of internal gender or care to have one or seek a name for it, some people go their whole lives without questioning their occupation in one of two gender roles, but for some people, if pressed, they don’t feel that internal sense of ‘i am a woman’ or ‘i am a man’, and in that case i feel the switch over to transgender vs cisgender relies on active identification of a gender other than the one they were assigned. if someone’s like ‘idk dude I just work here’ then that’s valid

A portion of people in the notes are like ‘but that makes you trans. That’s called being agender’ and another portion of people are going ‘this is how the majority of cis ppl feel and it’s NOT agender’ and personally I feel like both of them are missing the point here. Yes a lot of people identify as agender because of this feeling. Yes a lot of people with this same feeling still identify as cis. These are not mutually exclusive experiences and it doesn’t mean the agender people are secretly cis or the cis people are secretly agender. It just means they have very similar experiences of gender that they choose to conceptualize and label differently, and neither of them are mistaken or wrong to do so.

Anonymous asked:

Actually on the topic of Sailor Moon abridged, (fucking amazing btw. You and Kaleigh killed it.) was there ever a discussion that it might be a bit odd having two trans women voicing the main villains? I was super happy to see you both get awesome roles and then it sorta rubbed me the wrong way.

So Scott and I talked about it during our recording session and he was like "You both were perfect but it feels weird that-"

And I stopped him and said the same thing I always say:

DID! WE! AUDITION! FOR! THAT! ROLE!

If the answer is yes, we're more than happy to play the role. It's a role. It's a character. It's not us and does not reflect on us as people or as trans women.

Scott was awesome about it, was super cool to work with, and very kind and considerate throughout the whole process.

THAT SAID! I do think everyone, fans especially, kinda needs to get over these hang ups because it's that kinda thinking that lead trans women to not get cast in most things. And if the fans say it the people in charge feel that they can use that as an excuse to just not include us in general because it's "easier than dealing with trans women."

I, personally, fucking love voicing villains or evil characters because they get to be far more grandiose, theatric and often have the best dialogue in the entire project.

If I only ever played villain roles for the rest of my entire life I'd be pleased as punch.

So I think fans, over all, need to kinda realize that if a trans woman auditions for something and gets the role there should be nothing but celebration and never shutting up about how cool it is that there's a trans woman (Or in this case MULTIPLE TRANS WOMEN) cast in something.

Fandom spaces have to, and I mean this fully, get off their asses and SCREAM FROM THE ROOFTOPS any time a trans woman gets cast in anything when it comes to voice over.

I had this same thing happen when Sena and I got cast in Unicorn Overlord. Because folks were like "Happy to see two trans women in this... but you're both playing men. That sucks."

Sena and I fucking LOVED being in Unicorn Overlord and we've both waxed poetic about how AWESOME it was that they let us flex our range and play as much as they did in the booth for that project.

If fandom spaces keep saying ":< I can't believe you cast a trans woman in a role that the trans woman actress auditioned for" and harass the casting directors, producers, creators over this shit trans women aren't going to get cast in fucking anything.

Avatar

Spoilers, the other trans woman playing opposite me as the other primary villain in TFS’s Sailor Moon Abridged is that very same trans woman from Knights of Guinevere, Kayleigh McKee. She’s also a casual friend of mine and is very sweet and kind.

The circle of working industry trans woman voice actresses is so intensely small and most of us either know eachother or exist in the same circles casually.

But anyway, yes. It’s very frustrating to see the VERY FEW creators, casting directors, producers, etc who are willing to cast a trans woman in something getting harassed for casting that trans woman as a role that she auditioned for ON TOP of the trans woman actress ALSO getting harassed.

It’s happened to Kayleigh, it’s happened to me, it’s happened to all of us.

I need y’all to please, when you see a trans woman get cast in something… especially a BIG THING or a VIRAL POPULAR thing to take a second and realize that even if (AND ESPECIALLY IF) it’s the villain or a male character. Because we AUDITIONED FOR IT and GOT IT!

We’re actresses like anyone else in our craft. We can, and will, play roles that are absolutely nothing like us as human beings. So stop seeing us being cast as “this or that” as reflecting back on us as human beings because that’s absolutely ridiculous.

Anywho…

YES there’s two trans women VA’s in TFS’s Sailor Moon Abridged! GO WATCH IT! Send us some love in the comments!

YES! There’s ALSO two trans women VA’s in Unicorn Overlord! Tell SEGA USA you loved us in the game and want us in more games!

I honestly don’t understand why there aren’t more people who, when given the platform to discuss minimum wage, don’t simply distill it to the simplest of facts:

  • A forty hour work week is considered full time.
  • It’s considered as such because it takes up the amount of time we as a society have agreed should be considered the maximum work schedule required of an employee. (this, of course, does not always bear out practically, but just follow me here)
  • A person working the maximum amount of time required should earn enough for that labor to be able to survive. Phrased this way, I doubt even most conservatives could effectively argue against it, and out of the mouth of someone verbally deft enough to dance around the pathos-based jabs conservative pundits like to use to avoid actually debating, it could actually get opps thinking.
  • Therefore, if an employee is being paid less than [number of dollars needed for the post-tax total to pay for the basic necessities in a given area divided by forty] per hour, they are being ripped off and essentially having their labor, productivity, and profit generation value stolen by their employer.
  • Wages are a business expense, and if a company cannot afford to pay for its labor, it is by definition a failing business. A company stealing labor to stay afloat (without even touching those that do so simply to increase profit margins and/or management/executive pay/bonuses) is no more ethical than a failing construction company breaking into a lumber yard and stealing wood.
  • Our goal as a society should be to protect each other, especially those that most need protection, not to subsidize failing businesses whose owners could quite well subsidize them on their own.
  • Wages are a business expense, and if a company cannot afford to pay for its labor, it is by definition a failing business. A company stealing labor to stay afloat (without even touching those that do so simply to increase profit margins and/or management/executive pay/bonuses) is no more ethical than a failing construction company breaking into a lumber yard and stealing wood.

oh my god this post is ten years old

This argument is ninety years old if not older!

The cruelty of racist white men.

Does anyone else remember when Elon was like "if anyone knows how to end world hunger for 6 billion USD, I'll fund it" and UNICEF was like "we're going to spend a month to make a plan to end world hunger for 6 billion USD and Elon is going to fund it" and Elon was like "actually, nah" and then bought Twitter instead?

I think that was one of the worst things I'll ever see in my life.

I still think that should be the thing for which he's the most famous. It should be brought up every time he's mentioned. In any news article, any interview, any history book. "Elon Musk, who was offered a chance to end world hunger and turned it down." Put it on his fucking gravestone.
