your ardent and unshakeable faith in the myth of our "hatred" implies some pretty fucked up underlying beliefs about trans women as inherently violent and aggressive vicente 25 she/her reluctantly sharing this blog with the rest of the system for a while after our oldest blog got nuked fuck matt

know what? am actually gonna pin this. this is too good

“theres nothing wrong with him hes just annoying” is such a powerful grounding affirmation thank you toby fox. like you know what actually i don’t need to be mean to this person bc the thing that irritates me about them is perfectly harmless and subjective. it’s literally fine

*through gritted teeth* being annoying is not a moral failure

this article from the summer is one i kind of want to nail to several people in my life who keep insisting that it's totes better:

"like maybe AI doesn't work for you NORMIES but it's totes making things wizard for me"

The study says the slowdown can likely be attributed to five factors:

  • "Over-optimism about AI usefulness" (developers had unrealistic expectations)
  • "High developer familiarity with repositories" (the devs were experienced enough that AI help had nothing to offer them)
  • "Large and complex repositories" (AI performs worse in large repos with 1M+ lines of code)
  • "Low AI reliability" (devs accepted less than 44 percent of generated suggestions and then spent time cleaning up and reviewing)
  • "Implicit repository context" (AI didn't understand the context in which it operated).

It's very important to make art and express yourself amidst the terror, because it could end up in future textbooks, in the chapter on WW3.

wish there was a way to be like, hey I didn't want to pay for your streaming service subscription for this show so I watched it free on a shady pirate streaming site, I liked it so here's a one time payment of ten bucks, consider making a season two (which I'll also be watching free on a shady pirate site)

the people yearn for DVD releases

I fucking YEARN for fucking DVD releases! Fuck!

$20 to rent a movie online for 48 hours i need yall to get so real right now bc that is insane. “that’s the average cost” which is a problem!! if im paying $20 i better get the film on dvd to have and watch forever

and before i get the “what about seeing ig at the movie theater” comments

i dont have a 60 foot screen and high tech surround sound audio and fancy seats at home. i will pay $20 to watch a movie once with friends for the experience in the theater. i will absolutely not pay $20 to watch a movie on my laptop lmfao

£15/$20 is the price of a fucking DVD. That you keep. I'm not paying that much to rent fuck all, you must be joking.

Are all of you really too young to remember how it used to be before corporations stopped selling you things that became yours in perpetuity after you paid for them and started charging you rent for everything?

used to be that the reason there were so many movies/tv shows is in part because things were sold to keep on disc so in order for a production studio to keep making money they needed to make more like selling a lightbulb but now bc of streaming services and renting digital movies/tv shows they can keep making money while producing fewer things like leasing a car i fear a future where as production studios cull more and more from their libraries and continue merging into a single entity eventually we will find ourselves with 4 shows 3 movies that you pay a subscription to watch over and over and over again

now, pecker means penis. and wood means boner. so of course you would make assumptions about the term woodpecker. but no. the bird

I LOVE hearing that other languages have so many beautifully unique ways to construct dick jokes

the thing about "just say you have a boyfriend to make that guy leave you alone" and "just say you are a couple so you can get that apartment" and "just marry your friend for tax benefits" is that they aren't actually solutions to any of the underlying problems, and I'm tired with the discussion always ending there. No please keep going and explain why being in a relationship would solve these issues and why you think that isn't actually a problem?

the "trans men don't experience misogyny because theyre men" or "trans men have male privilage" takes will never not be funny to me because isnt like transphobia 101 that. well if youre trans there might be this small tiny chance perhaps a situation appears where someone will not see you as your actual gender identity. you know happens just sometimes. might maybe. who knows.

remembering when someone genuinely argued with me that trans men don't experience misogyny and said "that's not misogyny, that's transphobia" like let's put our thinking caps on for a moment... what does a transphobe think a trans man is...

there are specific structural and systemic social reasons why trans mascs often struggle with hyper invisibility

paradoxically men are "supposed to" struggle under the patriarchy its how you know theyre tough and strong tm its at the center of the myth of the capitalist meritocracy you see it in all of the alpha male grindset bs but despite that youre not really supposed to acknowledge it youre supposed to want what men have uncritically and if men do have struggles its that they dont get enough of the patriarchy benefits (eg. money power sex) its a part of why trans women *must* all be perverts why else would someone not want to be a man

conversely womens struggles are often talked about but the patriarchy wants us to think they simply dont matter women "overreact" essentially: men have benefits women have issues (superficial)

it is by this combination that the patriarchy aims to maintain the status quo nothing is wrong and anything that is wrong doesnt matter and when it does matter its that there isnt enough patriatrchy

also ofc women (and people perceived as women) arent allowed the same cultural relevancy or attention as men history will always talk about 12 mediocre men for every 2 important (white) woman

now these circumstances among other ails of the patriarchy are fundamentally responsible for the oppression all trans people face

no one could ever not want to be a man unless you were some sick freak deviant pervert and hence transfems get hypervisibility but specifically in order to frame us as socially and sexually deviant there is no war in ba sing se and trans women are the example what not to do

and no one could ever not want to be a man so ofc trans men exist but womens issues dont matter tm so surely once theyre men they reached the end goal no issues now they realize every issue before was irrelevant and they live happily ever after stop asking questions and also theyre not "real" men so despite it all theyll never similarly be rewarded for mediocrity if theyre ever recognized to begin with add of the fact that women arent meant to be able to have what men have and it you have yet another reason trans men need to not exist

at the core of this is transmisogyny and its what causes issues for all trans people but trans men are men tm and men dont have struggles the have benefits

when trans men talk about experiencing transmisogyny theyre "talking over women" a move that simultaneously treats womens issues irrelevant compared to mens and acts as if men have no real issues

when trans men create their own word for their oppression now not only are they still (somehow) speaking over women as if men speaking at all immediately silences anything women have to say even when its a discussion in another room but theyre acting as if men have issues unique to them (which they do) at least before men had womens issues (irrelevant) but now they claim to have mens issues (non existent)

all of this to say it all feels v much like an ingrained response to further enforce the hyper invisibility of trans men whenever people act like trans men need to get their own word for something that doesnt exist actually

Honestly if nothing else it simply proves the point that even someone who is "non-medical transition" and still uses the pronouns associated with their assigned sex at birth is Too Trans for transphobes the moment they come out. We've already seen this with other nonbinary celebrities such as Demi Lovato but it is just so unbelievably grating to see people claiming that nonpassing/nontransitioning trans people are somehow granted cis privilege when that is very obviously not the case.

Please look me in the eye and tell me that Ishii and Lovato and others like them are somehow receiving male privilege, cis privilege, and passing privilege simultaneously.

"We challenged the very foundation - the capitalist structure that had put us in slavery. We didn't talk about just getting some little something for some negroes as a piece of the pie. We created our survival programs, our free food, our clinics, our newspapers, our school, our books, our music and our art. We organized coalitions inside and outside the United States with the Brown Berets, the Chicanos, The Puerto Rican Young Lords, Poor White Young Patriots, with FRELIMO in Mozambique, Zanu in Zimbabwe, PAC in South Africa, even the Irish Republican Army in Northern Ireland and the Shining Path in Peru. We organized around gay liberation, We joined in women's liberation struggles, We were involved in environmentalism & we fought for disabled independence. We developed relations with revolutionary governments in China, Cuba, Vietnam and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea." -Elaine Brown

just rewatched t2

Actually this time probably not. The writing was on the wall way before Reagan became president, and the steel mill closed in November 1981, barely ten months into his president.

He was governor of California during that "writing on the wall" period. He was the one writing. It was his wall.

Oh. Well don't I look stupid now.

Terrible news: you learned something today

everything is reagans fault even when you think it couldnt possibly have been

Anyway I think more black women should be in high fantasy and in roles where they are *people* and not just plot points

Disa is soooooooooo fucking pretty and I love the hair and I love that she's fat and kinda waddles and I love that she's the complexion of the family she's shaped like and I love that she's a princess and beautiful and feminine.

More black women in high fantasy more black women in these normally white-dominated IPs (and lbr rop is still a white-dominated show with zero speaking characters of color in its first episode of season 2)
