Marauders Romance Week 2026

(Prompts are listed, translated, and slightly elaborated on further down)

Introduction

Marauders Romance Week is an event running from February 8th-14th. It's a play on the fact that the word 'romance' comes from Roman, hence each prompt is a Latin phrase!

Rules

Prompts

February 8th — In vino veritas (Literally "in wine, truth," a trope more commonly known as the drunken confession. Does not need to involve wine specifically) | In flagrante delicto (Literally "in blazing offense," basically the Latin equivalent of "caught red-handed")

February 9th — Dictum factum (what is said is done) | Magna est vis consuetudinis (great is the power of habit)

February 10th — Familia supra omnia (family over everything) | Ad astra per aspera (to the stars through difficulty)

February 11th — Memento mori (remember you must die) | Memento vivere (remember to live) (I thought these would be fun to pair up lol)

February 12th — Fortes fortuna adiuvat (fortune favors the bold) |  Silentium est aureum (silence is golden)

February 13th (also Luna's birthday btw!) — Carpe diem (seize the day) | Acta non verba (actions not words)

February 14th — Amor vincit omnia (love conquers all) | Ad meliora (to better things)

okays so I'm just gonna copy and paste it from my Google doc onto this post, if anyone has name suggestions I 100% wanna hear them because I don't have a title yet. Okay without further ado:

The BartyLily Smoking Microfic (working title) - 445 words

Barty Crouch Jr. strolls between the buildings of the Hogwarts grounds. Hands tucked behind his head, he whistles casually. No destination in mind really. Just waiting for Evan to get out of detentions so they can wreck havoc on a beautiful April afternoon such as this. All the sunshine and gentle breezes couldn’t be wasted by peace now could it? Barty hears a lighter click and a spark blaze to life from just around the corner of the campus church. His eyebrows raise in suspicion. Is Evan back there smoking without me?? The audacity of that boy I swear to god.

Rounding the bend. Barty sees a shock of bright red hair leaning against the brick building. Freckled cheeks raised towards the sky as Lily Evans drags a deep inhale of her cigarette and expertly blows it back out in one long plume of grey smoke. Eyes closed. The picture of relaxation.

“Evans!?” Barty finally bursts out.

Lily’s eyes snap open wide at him in panic. Her mouth opens and closes, with no sound coming out. A flush creeps up her neck. She looks between the boy in front of her and the still burning cigarette nestled between her fingers. Finally she seems to remember the model student she’s supposed to be and promptly grinds out her cigarette into the grass with her shoe.

“Lily Prissy Prefect Evans smoking behind the church?” Barty smirks before she can walk away. “I never would have guessed.”

Lily turns back to him, real panic in her eyes now “You cannot tell anyone Barty Crouch” her voice shakes just a little but remains firm. She points a threatening finger at him “I mean it.”

Barty holds his hands up in surrender “Don’t worry about me, I’m certainly not one to judge. Here don’t let me waste a perfectly good fag.” Withdrawing a replacement he holds it out to her.

Lily lowers her finger and looks between Barty’s face and his offering. The initial panic softens and she takes the cigarette from him slowly. Moving back to her place leaning against the wall she takes her zippo lighter from where she hurriedly stashed it in her pocket. Sparking up a flame she holds the blazing lighter out to him. A silent invitation. Barty smirks again and takes out another cigarette from his carton and holds the end to her flame. Bringing it to his lips he leans against the wall next to her.

“Clearly there are things I don’t know about you Evans.” He says after a moment.

Lily takes another drag. Blowing out the smoke in practice ringlets. “Clearly there are things I don't know about you either Crouch.”

Peter Pettigrew took one look at Regulus and something clicked in his brain, like gears finally locking into place after years of turning, like stars finally aligning.

It was one thing to admire a star so bright, to be able to bask in its light, but it was another thing to admire a star's dim shine, to notice it, pleading with the world to get closer.

Regulus was a star, one that didn't particularly stand out, but a star all the same. He was nothing special, and sure, he had some good qualities, but you don't see soil being appreciated like the stars. You don't see poets writing sonnets about soil, of all things, not when there were so many things that were much more interesting and pretty in life.

But when his eyes locked with Regulus Black, he made to add to the thought: Soil was always valued by gardeners, wasn't it? So maybe Regulus would see him, too.

Marauders Romance Week 2026

Introduction

Marauders Romance Week is an event running from February 8th-14th. It's a play on the fact that the word 'romance' comes from Roman, hence each prompt is a Latin phrase!

February 8th — In vino veritas (Literally "in wine, truth," a trope more commonly known as the drunken confession. Does not need to involve wine specifically) | In flagrante delicto (Literally "in blazing offense," basically the Latin equivalent of "caught red-handed")

Posted this a month in advance because I know I would want time to prepare for something like this lol.

Y'all I've decided to finally start writing the Yule Ball chapter of PRAU aka the thing that's been rattling around in my brain for like forever aka the thing I've been the second most excited for in. Like. This whole fic.

Friendly reminder that this is what Barty-as-Moody wore to the Yule Ball.

Although, for PRAU, I think he leaves off the ferret. Regulus would NOT take that well, and Barty knows it.

Curse + Body - October 19th & 28th - @rosekillermicrofic - 534 words - major character death

"Barty, get out of here. I'll hold them off," Evan hissed, voice distorted by the spell on the Death Eater masks. They both fired off curses at the Aurors confronting them.

"Come on, Rosie, I'm not gonna leave you here!" Barty insisted.

"That's an order," he snapped. "I still outrank you here-"

"Only because your dad-"

"Later. GO."

Barty was about to argue further when spell barely missed him, lighting a nearby building ablaze. Evan retaliated with another curse that hit an Auror — Moody — square in the face.

"Fine. Make it back in one piece."

"I will, honeybee," he replied, tone softening.

"Make sure none of them do," Barty added on with a grin, even though Evan couldn't see his face. Then he turned and ran, as fast as he could, not daring to look back.

Barty made it back to one of the safe houses, and threw off his mask the moment he walked in. He waited there for hours, but Evan didn't return. He had to go back and find him.

He searched through streets and alleyways, shivering both from the cold December night air, and from the dread gnawing at him that only grew more persistent.

Eventually, he made it to the alley they'd fought in, recognizing the scorched building.

And then he saw it. Him. Evan.

"No. No, no, no, no." Barty half-ran, half-stumbled toward Evan, collapsing next to his body.

"No. No, you said you'd be back."

Barty, gentler than he'd ever been, laid a hand on Evan's cheek, cold as the snow he was laying in. His eyes were and his face was blank. Barty didn't see any indication of injury. At least his death—

At least he hadn't been in any pain.

His mask was off to the side. An honor most Death Eaters didn't get. Only a few made the Prophet with their deaths. Most just vanished. He was still sure that was what happened to Regulus. Killed in some battle or another, never unmasked, body destroyed with no one the wiser.

It was a wonder there was still a corpse—

It was a wonder Evan was still there for him to find.

"Rosie, come on. Wake up, please, Rosie. Don't be dead, you can't be dead. Not you, not now. Don't leave me alone, Rosie, please," Barty pleaded, voice unsteady, as he shook Evan by the shoulders. The cheery red and green lights on the nearby streets seemed to be mocking him. He shot a jinx, shattering some of them.

"No. No, don't you dare leave me alone like this you bastard, you said," he faltered as tears started to roll down his cheeks. "You said you'd be back. You said..."

Words failed him as he broke down sobbing into Evan's shoulder, holding his body—

Holding Evan against his chest. He felt like he was going to be sick.

He didn't know how long he sat there, until the biting cold insisted he had to leave.

And when that time came, there was only one thought left in his head.

"I'm going to get revenge, Evan." He lifted Evan — Evan's corpse — into his arms as he stood. "I'm gonna make those bastards pay, I swear."

Reblogging this because it's the only thing I've got that could remotely be considered a Christmas fic, and because what are holidays in the Marauders fandom without a little pain?
