I think that the argument of “it’s not your character to decide” is a poor argument because people do a similar thing with ignoring the script changes to Ricky’s disability. Not the same thing but still fits the “changing an aspect of canon because canon did a shit job at representation”. The whole thing of “Misha not Mischa” comes from the fact that Mischa Bachinski is a romanized version of Міша Бачинські, but when using Ukrainian romanization rules, it becomes Misha Bachynskyi. Mischa Bachinski is a name using Russian romanization rules. Real actual Ukrainians have their names russified for so long, and it is a real world issue involving the oppression of Ukrainian people. We are not demanding to Jacob Richmond that he change the name in the script, it is simply something we add to fanworks and tumblr posts to be respectful to Ukrainian people. It is not meant to deliberately disrespect Richmond, but when some part of canon does a poor job at representation, doesn’t it make sense to modify it in fanworks?

I hope this makes sense and I hope you understand why people spell it like Misha Bachynskyi. Please correct me if I’m wrong on any of the facts :)

I’m gonna be honest, my main thought and concern on rtc going to the west end is Ricky’s disability. there’s going to be hundreds of new fans brought in by that production who have no clue about the history of ableism because all the official accounts basically ignore it.

I just need to say, the amount of RTC roleplay accounts swarming the ride the cyclone tag is a bit annoying. Can people please just tag the character youre roleplaying and not completely overload the tag. this is not about art ask blogs, just the blogs that role play as if they are actually the characters and make a few sentence posts over and over .

but WHY did we need to completely change ricky, and ocean's perspective on him

the whole point was she was infantilising him because he's disabled and non-speaking and then throughout the play he basically (and indirectly) proves her wrong by you know showing he's this whole person

the whole point was "ableism is bad" 🙏

i love these characters with my soul but if they were real and my classmates i would hate literally all of them but constance

tammy edwards isnt a real character... and considering penny mentions her once and never again once 7up falls out of popularity within the week, I don't think she was ever all that good of a friend to penny.

Was a bit disappointed when Penny said the d slur in Legoland given the other script changes but I did enjoy the rest of the changes. Agents of communism caught me off guard in a good way
