terrible at writing dono posts but my beautiful wonderful friend Eden wrote this for me -

"zero is a poor trans person who recently lost his primary mode of transportation, his car. he's living in arkansas, in an area with incredibly poor public transportation, so a car, e-bike, or something similar is needed so he can reliably make it to work and earn money through gigs like doordash.

the amount needed for transport in total is uncertain, depending on availability, sale prices, and payment plans. there are also other immediate needs that he can no longer cover, like bills, fees, and an impending court date on wednesday which will likely result in a large fine. anything you can give would help tremendously."

Hate it when TikTok farm cosplayers and cottagecore types say stuff like "I'm not going to use modern equipment because my grandmothers could make do without it." Ma'am, your great grandma had eleven children. She would have killed for a slow cooker and a stick blender.

I’ve noticed a sort of implicit belief that people used to do things the hard way in the past because they were tougher or something. In reality, labor-saving devices have historically been adopted by the populace as soon as they were economically feasible. No one stood in front of a smoky fire or a boiling pot of lye soap for hours because they were virtuous, they did it because it was the only way to survive.

Taking these screenshots from Facebook because they make you log in and won't let you copy and paste:

honestly the main reason i care about harm reduction is that i believe addicts are deserving of life. "what if they don't get clean?" they still deserve to live. "what if they don't contribute?" they still deserve to live. "what if they 'abuse' the system?" they still deserve to live.

addicts deserve to live by virtue of them being human. nothing will change that. nobody deserves to die of an overdose.

Everybody has to start somewhere so I don't usually like to put down resources that are clearly meant for beginners, but I do think if you're seriously engaging with those Writer Tips Posts that say things like "HOW TO SHOW ANGER IN WRITING: they cross their arms" you do not need to be studying Writing Blogs you need to pay attention to other human beings more often.

love peeking into boards i never touch because id have never considered using anon knowledge to choose a fridge

it baffles me when people say “i got tricked into watching this show for a ship that isn’t even canon” bro if those men had kissed, you would’ve SEEN it. i’ve seen gifs of men making out in shows i have no desire to watch. i’ve seen sex scenes from movies that nobody has ever heard of. when men kiss on screen, i am notified

imo if you are adapting something that plays with its medium into a new medium (book to film, podcast to tv show) you are obligated to ALSO play with the new medium and do something interesting. I don’t care if it’s not 100% faithful, I care if it WORKS. You cannot take a comic book that pushes the boundaries of what you can do in that space and then make the most boring visually flat screen adaptation you have fundamentally missed the point
