ICE has profiled and detained at least 5 Native people in Minneapolis in the past 2 weeks. One man has been identified and released, but the other four were unhoused and have yet to be located.
there is an initiative to ensure tribal members have ID:
They cut off usda funding from Minnesota, which includes wic and snap. Please consider donating to food banks around the area or food drives. Many immigrants are too scared to leave their homes to shop as well and a community member is doing great work.

CHAIRMAN SITTING BEAR'S STATEMENT REGARDING SRST PUBLIC SAFETY
JANUARY 9, 2026
I have been receiving reports and evidence of First Nations people being racially targeted, assaulted, and detained by the federal agency Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE). We want to remind our members to be safe and proactive by carrying with you at a minimum your tribal identification cards or a copy of your degree of Indian Blood. Our tribal identification affirms our citizenship and political status.
Our Nation is a sovereign government and our members are not immigrants. We are not subject to immigration enforcement on our own lands. Any federal activity within our boundaries must recognize and respect our tribal sovereignty, treaty obligations, and established jurisdictional boundaries. Any ICE presence or activity within our lands is not authorized, not welcome, and will be addressed. Unauthorized personnel will be escorted off our lands.
If you are profiled, harassed, or detained, please notify us immediately (701) 854-8529.
My staff is working on a "Know Your Rights" information phone line that will be released in the coming days. Please watch our social media page for further communication.
Again, I strongly advise all First Nations people to carry your tribal information as a practical measure. Standing Rock Sioux Tribe is committed to the protection, dignity, and wellbeing of our people and to the continued exercise of our rights and jurisdiction.
If you're in the US military or National Guard, and are given an illegal or unconstitutional order, the GI Rights hotline (1-877-447-4487) is there to help give you the support you need to do the right thing by refusing it. It would be good to think about this now before it becomes a live issue for you and it would be smart of you to memorize that number.
You can reblog this without your thoughts about the US Military, btw, that's allowed.
In fact: you SHOULD share it without your thoughts on the US Military. If someone in the military sees this number and is considering it, they already know. Just let them see the resource.
Might fuck around and paper my town with these. Feel free to join me.
Would you be willing to post the files for these so we can have the best quality copy for printing purposes?
Here's a folder with the files! I couldn't get the last one to PDF correctly with the image, so it's still text.
