Ziplines

The Ziplines (a.k.a. "Transit Lines" or "Hyperlines") are the primary method of long-distance transportation in Deadlock. They run from each team's base down the three lanes, with availability depending on how far a team's Troopers have pushed.
The Three Different Ziplines[edit | edit source]
| Logo | Name | Color |
| York Ave. | Yellow | |
| Broadway | Blue | |
| Park Ave. | Green |
Each lane has a unique name, though most characters refer to them by color. Some characters (such as Seven, Lash, Abrams, Wraith, Grey Talon, Infernus, and Ivy) occasionally use the lanes' actual names.
Basic Mechanics[edit | edit source]
Travel speed on Ziplines is fixed at 18 m/s on the inner lane and 21 m/s on the outer lanes, independent of a hero's base speed. Using a Zipline refreshes the hero's air dash and double jump. Pressing the down key (Ctrl by default) drops the hero from the Zipline while preserving momentum.
Zipline Speed Boost & Express[edit | edit source]
The 'Zipline Speed Boost' (F by default) can be activated while riding to grant the 'Zipline Boosted' buff. This ability has the following properties:
- Speed Increase: +80% travel speed
- Duration: 32 seconds
- Cooldown: 360 seconds (6 minutes)
- Initial Unlock Time: 280 seconds (4 minutes 40 seconds) into a match
Destroying a base guardian permanently applies this 80% boost to its corresponding Zipline, turning it into an 'Express Line'.
Additionally, the Movement Powerup increases Zipline Boost effectiveness by 40-80% (scaling with game time) when active.
Combat Interactions[edit | edit source]
Usage Lockout[edit | edit source]
Taking damage from an enemy hero prevents you from attaching to a Zipline for 3 seconds.
Getting Knocked Off[edit | edit source]
If a hero takes damage from an enemy hero while already riding or attaching to a Zipline, they will be knocked off. This has several effects:
- Damage: 15% of max health (shown as 'Hyperline', reducible by Spirit Resist).
- Stun: 2.5 seconds. The stun timer does not begin until the hero lands on the ground.
- Fall: The hero falls directly down from the Zipline.
After riding a Zipline for three consecutive seconds, a blue particle effect appears, indicating immunity to being knocked off.
Certain damage sources, notably damage over time (DoT) effects, will not knock a hero off a Zipline. For example,
Mirage's Djinn's Mark is treated as a DoT for this purpose.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The ziplines have had various names. In Neon Prime they were called hyperlines, in Shadowline they were shadowlines, and now in Deadlock, their official name is transit lines. Some voice lines and UI elements still refer to them by their old names.
- Prior to the 2025-02-25 Update, there were 4 lanes: Yellow (York), Green (Greenwich), Blue (Broadway), and Purple (Park).
- The lane names and colors have changed several times during development:
- Park Ave. (Green) was previously the Purple lane.
- Before that, the Green lane was Greenwich Lane.
- Even earlier, Greenwich Lane was the Orange lane and was named Orchard.
- All the lanes are named after real New York streets, and the team's bases Grand Central (Sapphire) and Penn Station (Amber) are named after major train stations.
