Precision - Hunter - Area Denial

Grey Talon is a Hero in Deadlock. He is a clever, long-range combatant that uses his powerful bow in combination with traps and mystical flight to pin down and destroy his foes. With the ability to charge his arrow shot for powerful effect, Grey Talon can harry his foes at a distance before launching a guided Spirit Owl to finish them off.

A founder of the monster hunting organisation The Baxter Society, Grey Talon happily retired after 40 years of service to support his extended family. He was living well until he was alerted that that his son and daughter-in-law had died in a mysterious house fire. Now, he hunts the perpetrators of the arson, bow in hand.

“

A founding member of "The Baxter Society", Wesley Grey Talon spent close to 40 years hunting monsters that preyed on man before finally deciding to find a replacement and lay down his bow. Grey Talon's duties had meant that he never spent much time with his wife and kid, and now that his son had started a family of his own he realized that this was his last chance to reconnect with the people he loved.

Retirement suited Wesley. He made up for lost time with his wife. He doted on his grandkids. He cooked dinner for the whole family every Wednesday. He was happy.

Then he got the call.

The authorities claimed that it was a freak accident... that the fire consumed his son's house before anyone got a chance to escape. But Wesley knew better. His son's wife was an Ixian who could snuff out flame with a thought. If their bodies were found burned they had to be dead long before there was a fire.

And so Grey Talon has picked up his bow once more, and when he finds who's responsible there will be a bloody reckoning.

Lore

Grey Talon's motivation in the ritual is to bring retribution to the Friends of Humanity, an extremist neopolitical group who he believes are behind the murder of his family. He doesn't seem interested in resurrecting his family, although it wouldn't matter if he wanted to since doing so is beyond the Patrons' power.

Grey Talon is known to be dangerous, having the most confirmed kills out of everyone in the Baxter Society.

Grey Talon's spirit owl is named Rohan. His son was named Nathan.

Grey Talon has visited South Ixia and said it was "beautiful".

It's implied that Grey Talon's wife is still alive.

Grey Talon was handsome in his younger years.

Character interactions

• Most characters respect Grey Talon and dislike fighting him.
• Grey Talon and Vindicta have hunted the Friends of Humanity together and regard each other as friends. Vindicta calls Grey Talon by his first name and believes that, if her father was like Grey Talon, she would never have died during the Salem Witch Trials.
• Grey Talon chose Shiv to act as his replacement in the Baxter Society. Grey Talon has high hopes for Shiv, despite his criminal past, and holds him in high regard, placing Shiv in the top 8 of people he'd want fighting alongside him. One of Shiv's goals in the ritual is to prove his worth to Grey Talon.
• Grey Talon and Drifter have a long history with each other. Drifter refers to Grey Talon by his first name. While Grey Talon despises Drifter, Drifter enjoyed the hunts and holds Talon in high regard. Grey Talon suspects Drifter could have killed his family, although Drifter affirms that if he did murder them, he would have made Grey Talon watch. There was a particularly brutal interaction between the two in Oklahoma.
• Calico used to work with Grey Talon in the Baxter Society. While Grey Talon is disappointed in Calico for becoming an assassin, he doesn't resent her and was content to leave her alone. Calico views Grey Talon as a "relic of a bygone era", but also says she will mourn his death.
• Warden once looked up to Grey Talon and heavily respects him. When on opposing teams, Warden is shocked that Talon would willingly work for the Patrons. While Grey Talon appreciates Warden's conviction, he believes that both he and Warden live "hollow lives."
• Grey Talon mentions that, had he still been in the Baxter Society, he likely would have hunted down Lady Geist and Seven.
• Grey Talon respects Dynamo's courage for enduring his body being torn apart and wishes he had the same optimism Dynamo has.
• Abrams and Paige remind Grey Talon of his daughter-in-law.
• Haze and Grey Talon know each other. She refers to him by his first name and sent a card when his son Nathan died. They haven't seen each other for "a while."
• Yamato respects Grey Talon for his age and skill.
• Mo & Krill like Grey Talon for his war against the Friends of Humanity.
• Calico compares Holliday's introverted personality to Grey Talon's.

• Grey Talon's current model is inherited from his design in Neon Prime, in which he was called Orion. He had an animal labeled "archer_pet", which was reused as the creature in Trapper's cage.
• Grey Talon's bow was originally called Koschei.
• Grey Talon is currently the only hero whose Bullet Damage is directly affected by Spirit Power.
• Grey Talon has been affectionately nicknamed "Grandma" by the playerbase.
• "Mourning in the Hideout" is displayed as one's status in the in-game Friends List when playing as Grey Talon in the Hideout.
