Agree with all the other reviews here about this car. The guy at the car hire booth was smirking as he gave me the keys, safe in the knowledge I would be stuck with a POS for two weeks. Dangerously low powered, no iOS connection despite displaying Apple Play, only 5 gears, felt like it was held together with sticky back plastic.

Don't believe the one star reviews!

I see these 1 star reviews for Chinese cars all the time and am 100% convinced they're reviewing the country and not the car at all. Anyway, I'm currently driving a DR6 CVT hire car from Drivalia in Spain and don't hold such slanted opinions.
My first impressions were that's it's big! We always get SUV type cars because my missus has bad hips and needs easy access and comfort. I can definitely say it ticks those boxes. It's perfectly adequately comfortable.
I'd never heard of this brand, so did some research. It's a petrol engine with a turbo, giving 154bhp. It performs reasonably well and gives a decent turn of pace if you put it in Sport mode. The standard ECO mode requires a fair bit more throttle.
The standard equipment list is impressive, with full LEDs, and all the safety kit you would want. The particular one I'm driving must be at least a couple of years old, because none of that kit is intrusive. None of that intrusive lane assist, for example.
The boot opens and closes on it's own for hands-free opening/closing.
About the only thing I can mark it down for is very dead steering, but this is common when they're electrically powered.
Oh, and it's a first world problem, but Android auto isn't wireless, which ought to be compulsory! so it's wired only.
It's a competent car. Not as good as my 3 series Beemer, but not the worst by a long shot either.

Spanish car hire. Dr5.0

Spanish car hire.

There’s always a bit of risk when you’re promised a Renault Megane “or similar.” Unfortunately, we got the “similar.” And by “similar,” they apparently meant a DR5.0, which sounds more like a printer than a car.

We’d never heard of it, but it’s from China and rebadged in Italy.

To be fair, it looked okay and was surprisingly spacious. That’s where the compliments end and the comedy begins.

Despite only having 35k miles on the clock, it looked like it had been in a few scrapes, most probably previous holiday renters desperately reversing into walls in the hope of swapping it for literally anything else!

The rear door seals were flapping in the wind like party streamers.

Every time you approached it, it let out this ridiculous “futuristic” whooshing noise like a spaceship was landing—that kind of thing might impress you on a Tesla. On this Chinese box of bolts? Absolutely hysterical.

The engine performance was… well, I’ve seen electric scooters with more get-up-and-go. We had to drop to first gear just to climb mild inclines. At one point, a pensioner on a moped glared at us like we were holding him up.

Then we’d hit a power spot and it would let out a faint wheel screech followed by a strange noise coming from the engine area- kids bursting into to laughter and shouting ‘DAD THE BEAST FROM BEIJING IS FARTING AGAIN!’

On the motorway, we found ourselves in third gear just to avoid being swallowed whole by passing lorries - genuinely frightening given I could only see 2 airbags in the front, god knows about the rear?

But wait—it gets better! When going downhill, we somehow crept above 120 km/h and the car completely lost its mind. Alarms started blaring like we were about to launch into orbit. The car was basically saying, “STOP. TOO FAST. YOU’RE IN A DR5.0, NOT A DAMN JET.”

And the air conditioning? Let’s just say we were boiling in Spain in May. The AC had the strength of an asthmatic hamster blowing through a straw. I’ve had more refreshing gusts of wind from opening the fridge.

All in all, driving the DR5.0 was like being in a parody of a car rental commercial—except it wasn’t a joke, it was our actual holiday transport.

10/10 comedy value, -2/10 driving experience.

The worst car ever from every aspect

The worst car ever from every aspect. Got it from a car rental record go in Barcelona and the experience was awful, weak breaks, max speed 120km/h (downhill only), could not pair the phone, not stable on the road... Never again this car or the rental..

Fantastic place

Fantastic place, took a car in to have something checked to which it was extremely quick, the work was carried out whilst I stood there without any hesitation. I was in and out in half hour. 5 star recommend this place.

Pretty bad car...

The car has very little power. It is a pretty bad car overall. The company we rented from, record go is even worse. We rented it in the Barcelona airport and we went to Pamplona, a city 5 hours from there. Our tire punctured and they took the car to Bilbao, which is 2 hours from there because 'it has to be a specific workshop'they gave us a taxi there and when we went to take the cat they hadn't even fixed it plus they charged us 100 EUROS for the tire plus 567 EUROS for the crane that took it there. When we asked for a replacement they asked for a 1200 EURO warranty so we denied. We had to go back to Barcelona by train and pay even more. Absolutely terrible.

116hp? Very small horses

Nice car, easy to use infotainment system, connected easily with the phone for Spotify &calls, comfy seats ,huge boot, ,handy reversing camera, powerfull a/c Nice car that is until you drive it. My 25 year old campervan has more power and handles better than this awful thing. Jumps all over the place on bumpy roads, steering wheel that never centres. Dropping down to 3rd gear on motorway hills. Being tailgated by buses because you can't out accelerate them. Makes joining every main road a nail biting hell. God awful handling that nips any spirited driving firmly in the bud. If your into driving slowly while revving your car into oblivion and spending all your holiday money on petrol, rent one of these. On the flip side the brakes were OK.

Worst car I've driven in my life

Worst car I've ever driven in a league of its own. Received it in Florence from Hertz rental after my original Megane broke down. This piece of garbage wouldn't accelerate, wouldn't brake, wouldn't keep a straight line... After just 100 km I managed to return it and get something half decent in Bolonia. Fuel consumption at 100 km/h Cruise (didn't dare to drive faster) was above 10 l/100 km. From Bolonia I was heading for the Dolomites, I cannot imagine driving this piece of junk up or, what's worse, down those mountain roads

DR4: Chinese sub standard for car hire

Happy to add to the series of bad reviews. Rented a DR4 SUV in Barcelona. The guy at the counter said « it’s a brand of Mitsubishi ». Not it’s not… He said « it’s our last car.we have another one but it’s not clean ». I sensed something in him that he felt sorry (for me not for him) and was low key offering a better option. It was 7pm and I didn’t pick up on it so I said it was fine. I took the DR4.
From outside it looks like a nice SUV. More spacious than a Juke, less than a Qashqai. The car had A/C, car play, reverse camera. All basics. But right off the bat when trying to reach 80km/h on Barcelona’s city ring, I just couldn’t! I noticed the second gear had no power at all. We were just 2 adults and one child in the car. Once on the highway, I managed to reach 105km/h in fifth gear but the wheel started to shake. The car was wobbly and I blamed it on the tires. So I took it back to 90km/h… on the highway… so what should have been a 2 hour trip turned into a 3 and a half hour trip. On arrival I checked the tires and they were all fine. After 2 days, I realized the orange engine light was on. Thanks to RecordGo for maintaining the car! And the mileage was 38,000km which is very high for a rental. But very young for a car. However it felt worse than an aged 300,000km diesel car! These Chinese makers who assemble in Italy are selling this DR4 brand new for 16,900eur with a 5 year warranty so many Italians bite. Rest assured after the 5 year period hating yourself for that choice your car is worth zero. These vehicules are dangerous and should not be allowed in Europe. The gearbox, especially the reverse, are sub standard and you’ll miss and hear it scream a few times. The A/C on minimum doesn’t really cool the car. But the worst is the engine and lack of power unseen and worse than the smallest car you’ve ever rented.

Can only agree - worst car I’ve ever driven

Another terrible review to add the the plethora of others for DR Autos. Unfortunately, as it turned out, I was awarded a DR 5.0 for a week’s hire on Mallorca….absolutely horrible car to drive and gutless in the extreme. We actually
Got stuck on a steep exit ramp out of a parking as the car simply didn’t have enough power to accelerate out. Really clanky gearbox and poor visibility out of sides and back. Surprisingly bad fuel economy, so be prepared to make frequent visits to the gas station on top. It was more expensive on fuel than my twin turbo pickup truck! Never again. And God forbid to actually own one!

When I went to look at the car key it…

When I went to look at the car key it was a badge that I had never seen before. I thought it could be interesting, how I was wrong. Getting it into gear is like trying to land a a boing 747 whist blind and 9 shots deep. Once you do get it into gear you will be astonished with just how little power this car really has. You may as well get out and push it, hills, you will have to go round them getting up them will be a challenge of the same level as a double Ironman. It isn’t a fan of corners either, any bend over 7 degrees feels like you’re about to attempt a scandi flick due to the sheer lack of grip and poise on the road. Awful.

It’s terrible

It’s terrible. It’s dangerous. It won’t accelerate and it won’t brake safely. It was a rental from Hertz in Milan. Don’t accept this piece of garbage if they offer it to you. It felt bad even before I exited the rental parking lot, but didn’t want to go through the process of changing cars.

Rented this underpowered beast from Hertz in Sicily. Understeer was amazing and I will not go over 110 K in this thing. My old beater truck at home has better as acceleration. The best feature was the back up camera.

Shame on you, Hertz

I was downgraded to this pile of $h1t by Hertz at Milan airport. They refused to give me the premium car I had requested and gave me this, as it was ‘the only available’. Thank you Hertz, never again…
I was shocked this is a car actually sold until a few years ago. Underpowered, noisy, uncomfortable suspension, poor visibility, it makes a poor car to travel with. I cannot think of a modern car worse than this.
