I had a Synchrony card for a credit…

I had a Synchrony card for a credit limit of $2,500.00.
I used this card a few times. I always paid off the balance which was 0. Then without notification they
canceled my card. This is an inhumane practice and
should not be allowed without a certification notice
to the customer. Without a customer not knowing this
can have a negative impact on someone health or well
being. For instance, what would have happened if I went out of the country or even out of my State without a credit card handy. Or a medical emergency.
Extremely dangerous putting someone at risk. In order to protect someone's well-being. It should be unlawful. If something happens to a customer, due to
this practice. Synchrony bank should be held accountable.

Scammers

They do not ever send a bill for the month coming up. They "forget your address" so that you don't get ANY mail correspondence from them. They change your due date EVERY month. They send you a "your payment is due" email two days after your payment is LATE. I pay 3 days before I paid the last month to beat their "cheat you system". They are trash and they take advantage of people.

Synchrony is sneaky

I had six accounts with Synchrony, all in good standing. Only 2 had balances. One day out of the blue, they closed all my accounts. I never paid a dime of interest. They said I was a credit risk. Piss poor company. DO NOT USE THEM

Synchrony Bank-they give then take away

I had 4 cards with Synchrony Bank. Admittedly with high balances. Most had $2000 on each card. I was always on time with the monthly payments when balances were high on all 4 credit cards. Never late! I took from my 401K to alleviate my debt and paid ALL 4 CARDS OFF, Reducing the balance to zero. The upon sending the new statements in one text send an immediate text stating that the available balances on 2 cards was now $200, the 3rd $100 and fourth, which I used the most for a membership store, was cancelled altogether, Which will hurt my credit score. How do you sign a contract with someone giving you credit and a limit to which to spend on the promise you make all payments on time, which I did, even PAID OFF ALL 4 cards be treated like this. It's insulting, demoralizing and degrading. How is paying off my balances a punishable offense. They are saying revolving credit balances to high... yes they WERE, that's why I dipped into my 401K! I agree, but since it takes a month for creditors reflect your accounts, the information they had was wrong because my credit score has drastically improved, thus the reasons for reducing/ canceling is not warranted. So don't EVER pay your Synchrony card off if you want to keep your card. Wells Fargo, CITI bank don't do this horrible practice. It's wrong and should be illegal. Hurt my credit score for doing all the things. A shame and a Disgrace. Its sad really because I really did enjoy working with Synchrony. Payments were easy, one app for 4 cards but I guess that was one sided.

TERRIBLE BANK

Everything was fine. I carried a balance on the card then one day I payed off the full balance. They locked my card down for an entire week. Staring they needed to verify the funds were actually there. 24 hrs after I made the payment they had the funds withdrawn from my bank account. I made the phone call 36hrs after making the payment.
It’s just a simple Amazon card.
The customer service reps are terrible at their job and are very rude. The manager was even more rude.
Terrible bank overall and stay inbussiness solely because of Amazon.

WHERE ARE THE STATE ATTORNEY GENERALS WITH THESE PREDATORY CREDIT CARD COMPANIES?

DO NOT GET A "CARE CREDIT" CARD!!! SYNCHRONY BANK IS PREDATORY!!!!
These people might as well just run you over then feed on your flesh. It's the same difference. Can there by nothing more disgusting than taking advantage of people trying to take care OF THEIR PETS? The name of the card comes off like they care about you, offer a great option but the interest rates can be as HIGH AS 39%!!!!!! Then they offer "promotions" on to which they apply a payment NOT to the high interest amount but to the NEW promotion account at 0% and in order to pay on the HIGH INTEREST AMOUNT, they tell you, you "HAVE TO CALL". It is confusing BY DESIGN. You cannot find accurate information on your account. These people are nothing less than thugs shaking you down for every dime while shadow boxing. They have horrendous terrible reviews nationally so the next question is WHERE ARE THE STATE AG'S TO FILE AGAINST THEM and PROTECT THEIR CONSUMERS? Also, beware that even if you pay off the card, they may still tack FEES on to your ZERO BALANCE. YOU CAN NEVER GET FREE OF THEM. DO NOT USE!!!

I give this Creditor MINUS 3 STARS

I would give them 0 stars if this was an option. Maybe even -3 stars. I paid my card off completely January 21st, then it showed OVERPAYMENT of 50 dollars... SO, they refunded me the 50 dollars by check. THEN, on February 5th, I see that I have a balance due. I look and its interest due ion purchase. Hm.. Really? I was overpaid. I call them they tell me its interest from my balance in December. HORRIBLE. I was told it takes 2 billing cycles for interest due to post. REALLY? This is the WORST creditor I have ever dealt with. I have NEVER had this bad of an experience with any of my other Cards, and i have SEVERAL.. ONLY PayPal Credit and Amazon Credit. They will penny pinch you into oblivion.

Synchrony Bank (Lowe’s card) turned my credit into a “debt” and then punished me for their own mistake.

After a merchandise return, my account showed a legitimate credit balance of -$152.52 (June 18, 2025). Instead of closing this out correctly, Synchrony’s servicing errors—after my account/card number was reissued due to mail theft—caused the credit to be mishandled and then treated as money I supposedly owed. A credit became a “balance,” and then it was inflated with interest and fees to around $233.43.

The worst part: I have disputed this repeatedly for months. Multiple times, Synchrony acknowledged the balance was wrong and even temporarily reset it to $0 during “investigations”… only for the same incorrect balance to reappear later without explanation, restarting billing and forcing me to fight the same issue again and again. On January 21, 2026, an account manager (“Elain”) again identified the issue as a migration/transfer problem tied to the account reissue— Understanding the problem still didn’t lead to a permanent fix.

To make matters worse, Synchrony restricted my ability to access historical statements and records needed to document the dispute. The portal message states: “Due to the status of your account, enrollment in paperless statements is currently unavailable.” So they create the issue, then make it harder for me to prove it, while continuing to demand payment on an inaccurate balance.

I’m not asking for anything unreasonable: correct the account to $0, reverse the fees/interest caused by their error, provide full account records, and fix any credit reporting tied to this mistake. This has been an exhausting, time-consuming mess that never should have happened. I would strongly caution anyone dealing with Synchrony to document everything and be prepared to fight for basic accuracy.

Horrible bank to do business with

Horrible bank to do business with. I have 6 different cards with them and they always manage to find a way to decrease my credit limit even though I have a perfect 100% payment history for over 15 years and a credit utilization of roughly 35%. They do this without rhyme or reason and when you call to find out, all they can say is that there is an automated review that decides and they have no control. This is absolute garbage given the fact that I have never missed or been late on any of the accounts I have with them. I am in the process of paying them all off in 3-4 months and closing every single one of these cards that are worthless. All they do is screw you over by reducing your overall available credit without a just cause. We need to boycott so they can go under and maybe they will understand how we feel!!!!

WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!

WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!
I could not log in online. Called ans got a rep that spoke very unclear English. She hung up on. Called back, guy that answered could not speak good English, asked to be transferred, he hung up on me. Called a third time... that's guy thought he knew everything and knew zero. He kept telling me I was in the wrong place ans was not entering my info correctly. After numerous attempts to log in, guess what.. im transferred. FINALLY I speak to someone who's first language is English, not trying g to be rude, it's difficult trying to communicate an issue with someone who doesn't understand and there is language barriers. Anyway, Im told a new cars was sent to me and a new one needs to be mailed out. I agree to do a payment by phone because it was late. She took my routing and account number twice and said it didn't go through. Looked at my bank account and didn't see anything so I agreed to use my debit card. NOT to my surprise this morning I see 2 withdrawals for the payment. Dreadfully I called them and spoke to Giselle, clueless, said I would get a check in the mail in weeks. Asked for a manager, got rudeness Jennifer. She thought just because she didn't raise her coixe and kept calm that she could still be condescending. I just wanted my money back. Just under an hour on the phine this time. I will NEVER use this card or bank ever again. You guys SUCK!!

Synchrony SCAM

I recommend being extremely cautious before opening an account with this bank. My experience has raised serious concerns about their billing practices. Despite having a zero balance, I continued to receive interest charges labeled as “trailing interest” on purchases that had already been fully paid off. New interest charges even appeared under the “purchases” category on my statements, which then generated additional interest.
I spent two months disputing these charges on an account that should have had no balance. At one point, a representative acknowledged that an account error had occurred, but they could not explain what the error was, how much it involved, or how it would be corrected. I was told it might take one to two billing cycles to resolve, yet they continued charging interest during that time—without being able to tell me what the supposed error even was.
This experience left me with serious concerns about transparency and accuracy in their billing system.
