ABYSMAL CUSTOMER SERVICE

Wow, what a pitiful customer service rating. I can see what brought me here as I have received abysmal customer service as well. I called 3 weeks ago about problems with their website and I am not able to download my tax forms. I demanded that they mail them to me. The rep I spoke with never said he had the option to email it to me or offered to overnight it. I have yet to receive the form and when called today the "manager" I spoke with said there hasn't been anything sent. She says she will email it to me within 24 hours but I am dubious or her ability to follow up as well as my lack of confidence in Capitol One. I have a lot of money sitting in Capitol One and I now realize what they think of me as a customer and I will be relocating my money ASAP

One thing I’ve learned the hard way is…

One thing I’ve learned the hard way is that scammers are patient. The broker earned my trust slowly by approving small withdrawals. That made everything feel legitimate. It wasn’t until I tried to withdraw a larger amount that they suddenly introduced a “tax” I had to pay upfront. After I paid it, my account access was restricted.

That was the moment I knew I’d made a mistake. I spent days reading through other people’s experiences online instead of just looking at ratings. That’s how I came across 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐢 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥. I didn’t recover every cent, but I recovered enough to breathe again. More importantly, I learned to never trust early success as proof of legitimacy.

Overall bad customer service.

There is no purpose to Eno aside from directing you back to Capital One's "help" section. The representatives seemingly cannot answer any questions or assist in any way without an immediate and prolonged hold.

No empathy

Although the customer service was cordial and professional the rep greatly lacked in empathy. Explain my situation and just carried on like I didn't say a word when asking not to report the late payment. He could have removed it mark.

Worst day with Capital One in 22 years

I have been a happy customer of Capital One for 22 years - until today :-( After making absolutely sure there was more than enough money in the account I posted a check to be sent out on the 10th of the month, and now it's the 11th and the check still shows "pending". After calling Customer Service I was told it's "still processing"! Processing what? They have the name, address, amount and more than enough money to cover the check. What's there to process? I'm thinking about changing banks. Disgusting!!! If I could give them 0 stars, I would.

Why would you still say that?

Why? 😨 After a customer makes an in writing settlement with you, makes the first 2 of 6 payments on time, calls to make the payments to make sure all is well, Would you still have a representative told to say words to the effect of even though we have a settlement, your vehicle is still subject to repossession anytime! What!?!? I'm making payments per the settlement....It just makes me want to file bankruptcy to be sure I can fully protect the vehicle while making the payments. I mean really!

They canceled 5 of my credit cards

They canceled 5 of my credit cards, 2 personal and 1 business and 2 discover ( they bought discover and canceled me when they transitioned to the capital one app).
The reason why they canceled me is because 1 of my personal credit cards: I made a few payments to it that bounced back( no funds because PNC sucks ) and they suddenly canceled / closed my accounts and I cannot reopen them. I have to apply again for them they said. This is the second time this happened, 5 years ago it happened as well.
No buts or ifs just canceled. I spend hundred of thousands and they don’t care aboe as a customer, now my credit got impacted and I lost 5 cards with over 100k limit. Never again

⭐☆☆☆☆ Opt Out Not Honored

⭐☆☆☆☆
Capital One failed to honor its own opt-out process.
I attempted to opt out of a credit limit review before the stated deadline, but the phone number provided disconnected. No business hours or limitations were disclosed. Customer service later confirmed that I was opted out.
Despite this, Capital One reduced my credit limit by approximately 75%. A subsequent call confirmed an opt-out note exists on my account, but I was told the prior agent “did not have authority,” and that the disconnection was due to undisclosed business hours.
Capital One enforced the reduction anyway and refused corrective action, including after a CFPB complaint.
This reflects a nonfunctional opt-out process, inaccurate customer service, and a lack of accountability. I am closing all family accounts and reporting this matter to additional agencies. I do not recommend Capital One.

Capital 1 horrible transition from Discover

Capital 1 started the transition taking down my Discover business around 15 Jan, had to call several times since i did not get a CC. Finally received a new CC on 26 Jan. when i went to use it, would not work, another worthless call to capital 1 only to be informed i was not verified.....where was that on my account dashboard? no messages, notifications. By this time i had already transferred all my billings to my business VISA. The verification link capital 1 would send me would not work. at this point all i want is to Cash in my rewards over $1500...but now waiting for someone to call me from capital one or as i am now referring to them as the Flat Earth society. Horrible company, i had been with discover over 15 years over 800 FICO score and paid my balance every month, business charges were $250k annually so a decent customer. Diacover always great capital one in the toilet

False advertising

On January 28, 2026, after much research, I applied for what I thought was the best Balance transfer Credit Card. Capitol One venture One offer 21 months 0% financing 3% transfer fee no annual fee. Credit has to be between 670 and 850. Mine was 739 I was approved for $7000. Normally I can go online and do the transfer right away.. it would not let me I called Capitol One they said you need to wait for your card. When a card arrived six days later I still couldn’t do the transfer called Capitol One. You must wait 10 days from when First applying for the Card today is February 9 I called Capitol One. It still won’t let me do the transfers the representative talked in circles none of it made sense. She had no answer. I asked to speak with the manager. This was important. My Credit already went down one point and I have almost 2 weeks invested into this manager talked in circles things like that car don’t qualify. It does qualify that’s the one I applied for it was just lies. I asked for some sort of an answer so I can fix whatever went wrong but there was none I’m writing this for other customers to be aware of this false advertising. It was plain I was approved and now they say no. Manager said she would document what happened.
it does affect your credit. I’ll never use Capitol One again.

Capital One

I am submitting this formal complaint against Capital One regarding their refusal to honor an approved settlement agreement and their stated intent to retain funds beyond the legally agreed amount.

In preparation for a refinance, I contacted Capital One prior to my refinance company issuing payments to creditors to request a settlement offer on my account. At that time, Capital One refused to review or process my settlement request. Due to this refusal, my refinance company proceeded to issue a check for the full balance owed, totaling $5,325.82.

Shortly thereafter, I contacted Capital One again. On this occasion, a representative properly submitted my settlement request, which was approved for $3,500. This approval constitutes a legally binding settlement agreement between myself and Capital One.

Although the refinance check has already been issued, Capital One has not yet received the payment. The check is scheduled to be mailed to them on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Despite this, Capital One has stated they will not adjust the amount upon receipt of the payment and will not return the excess funds, even though the settlement was approved before the funds were received.

The difference between the full balance payment and the approved settlement amount is $1,825.82, which Capital One has indicated they intend to retain despite the binding settlement agreement. This situation occurred solely because Capital One initially refused to review my settlement request when I first contacted them in good faith.

Had Capital One acted appropriately at that time, the payment would have reflected the approved settlement amount. Their refusal to return or credit the excess funds is unjust, unreasonable, and inconsistent with fair consumer practices.

I am requesting that Capital One honor the approved settlement and either reject the overpayment or promptly refund the excess amount of $1,825.82 upon receipt of the check.

They are a terrible banking institution.

They sent me an email threatening to close my account if I didn’t verify my personal information and update my income. This rubbed me the wrong way, but I did it anyway. They persisted to call me and email me requesting that I update my information and that if I don’t my accounts will be frozen and closed. I called back and updated with someone over the phone and explained that I had already updated per their last request. Needless to say I updated it once again. Finally, I was out of town on business when my wife called me claiming the debit card wasn’t working, so I called capital one and was informed that my accounts had been closed and checks had been mailed to my home and should arrive after 10 days. I challenged their assumptions that I hadn’t follow instructions regarding updating my personal information, therefore had my accounts closed. They held strong that there was nothing they could do and I escalated the issue up the chain which took precious hours of my time. They finally found their mistake and admitted it, but couldn’t do anything to help me except for reinstating the accounts with zero money. Once I received the checks I ln the mail I deposited them into the accounts an they placed them on a 10 day hold for being suspicious checks over balance of the accounts, this was because of the zero balance in the accounts resulting from their incompetent mistake and the absolute power to do as they please with our money. I lost a life insurance policy due to non-payment resulting from their mistake, missed important payment deadlines on other credit accounts resulting in a hit to my credit, and this resulted in my life insurance premiums going up due to the lapse in coverage. Now they have changed our debit cards to discover and we must change everything over on all accounts in order to keep up with their incompetent BS. I’d rather pay more for an account and have good service than work with a discount poverty bank. I’ll be switching banks promptly to Chase Bank because they have been offering be much better service. I also tried running my Contruction business accounts through capital one and that didn’t work out either. This institution is a discount bank with bad customer service. You get exactly what you pay for with them.

Don't Trust Capital One!

Did not send a statement for a payment due. When they finally did, it included a late fee. I never pay late. I never received a statement. They are also dishonest in that I had all my savings here and they made a new savings with higher rate although I was supposed to be earning at the highest rate. I inquired and they said I was supposed to check the rates all the time and they don't care. I removed all my money and will never bank here again. Can't even cancel the credit card online as their instructions say.

Charged twice by a vendor got stuck in call back tomorrow loop

I was charged twice by a vendor and when I asked capital one about it they directed me to a long process to dispute one of the two charges instead of recognizing that there were two charges at the same time from the same vendor for the same amount.

The mobile app is a piece of junk that doesn't allow to contest it. And in order to make it extra difficult, they have a team of bankers that work limited hours. And you have to call. For a company that basically exists purely over an app. Making people call just seems stupid
