Hood of Defiance was an item purchasable at the Base Shop, under Armor. However, it can only be completed with items from the Secret Shop.

- Interrupts the caster's channeling abilities upon cast.
- Grants the wielder a magical damage barrier that absorbs magical damage values, causing several on-damage effects to not trigger within its capacity.
- Does not stacks with other magical damage barriers.
- If multiple sources of barriers are active on a unit, all of them lose capacity from the same absorbed damage instance.
- However, if a damage instance is greater than the capacity of all barriers individually, the damage gets blocked as if the barriers were one barrier with combined capacity.
- Successive casts refresh the buff and reset the damage barrier capacity.
- Does not share cooldown with Pipe of Insight or Eternal Shroud.

Tips
[edit]- This item can be purchased by a nuker against enemies carrying a Blade Mail.
- The Barrier can be used to keep your Blink Dagger active. It is useful for an initiator against an enemy team with a radiance or to escape if caught in a gank.

[edit]- Prior to the July 14, 2017 Patch, Hood of Defiance's active ability, Barrier, did not have an official name. The name was taken from the Dota 2 Wiki and officially implemented into Dota 2.
