I want to warn everyone about a pair of scammers and thieves – buymeacoffee.com and its associated payment processor, Stripe. My nearly $400 has been blocked and unpaid for a month now. After posting a negative review on this site, they responded quickly – but they don't respond to the support page. They promised to send my money within a week. A week passed yesterday – nothing has changed. Here's what to do: file an official complaint for theft and fraud. In the case of buymeacoffee.com and the payment processor, Stripe, to the Central Bank of Ireland. They must react. Don't waste your time reporting to any US authorities –USA is a wild and thieving country these days, like Nicaragua, Russia, or North Korea. But a complaint to a supervisory authority in Europe and Ireland must be considered. My money was stolen, and I no longer expect to ever receive it. I'm writing here to warn other naive people and point the way to put an end to the activities of this thieving gang.So now I'll describe to you in detail my experience with a pair of scammers and thieves =- the buyme a coffee website and the related scam website Stirpe.com.

It's like this: People pay you money because they like your project. You collect the money. In my case, it was $400 before I realized it was a scam and changed the links.

So you have $400. Then the scammers and thieves, the buyme a coffee website, and the Stripe operator get to work. They ask you a series of idiotic questions, like: What do you have in common with Syria? Two weeks pass. Supposedly, everything's cleared up. Now you have to wait a week for them to send you the money because they have to check if it's going to Syria. A week passes and your status from pending disappears to "You haven't received any payments yet."
Your balance on Storm is zero. Nobody answers your questions. Only when you criticize them on consumer websites. You sent money yesterday. Today, there's no sign of your money. Your money hasn't been sent. Your balance on buymeacoffe is 0. You evil, thieving gang of scammers buymeacoffee.com and the Stripe operator have robbed you. They're a gang of thieves. Stay as far away from these bastards as you can.

Buy Me a Coffee makes it easy for writers and artists to share their work and receive support without pressure. The platform feels personal, simple, and creator-first. I love how it lets me connect with readers in a more human way, not just through numbers or algorithms. Clean interface, smooth setup, and no unnecessary clutter. It just works.

I needed to change the email address on my account but was unable to access the old account to verify. So Rea and the team did a great job checking my ID and then getting the changes made in double quick time! Super stuff.

I'm adding an additional review. If you look at the unhappy reviews, you see Buy Me a Coffee responding, looking like they are taking care of the problem. They emailed me asking for my email address associated with the account and once again, never got back to me when I responded. I wish they would resolve it because suspending someone's account, refunding donations meant for me, when I haven't violated any policy is unfair.
If you see a message from them below asking for my email address, know this: I’ve given it to them five times.
They do that so they can say I didn’t respond and will request that Trustpilot take the review down. I’ve responded

I commissioned an artist to make emotes for my Twitch community, to which I never received. They were adamant about me paying them through Buy Me a Coffee over Paypal and VGen. I had hired them before, so I didn't think anything of it at the time.

However, they proceeded to only give two updates and then dropped off the face of the earth. Over three months, they left me on read and never returned any messages. I brought it up to Buy Me a Coffee, who told me they would "investigate." One month later, the one person I made contact with told me they "had nothing to do" with the investigations team. Here we are SIX MONTHS later and they're only NOW reaching out to the artist after I sent a very angry follow up email.

Doing a bank back charge was no good because it had been too long. So this scammer's long made off with my money ($200+), and Buy Me a Coffee couldn't have cared less til I cussed them out. Take this as a warning. If an "artist" or anyone is pushing for payment through this site, there's a reason for that, and it's nothing good.

I am a developer and my experience with BuyMeACoffee has been horrible. After a full week, support never replied to my email. I also tried reaching out via chat, and after several days, I still received no response. The lack of support is unacceptable.

On top of that, their fees are significantly higher compared to other platforms for receiving donations. The API for membership integration is no longer maintained, and while they provide some webhooks, they are unreliable.

The concept of the service is good, but the final outcome is a disaster.

Overall, this service is not trustworthy, and I cannot recommend BuyMeACoffee to anyone looking for a reliable platform.

I'm reporting this company to the FTC for possible fraud. They claim they have to "review" your request to withdraw your funds AFTER you install their plugin and receive a supporter. In which, they take their dear sweet time (I'm still waiting) to release your funds, and are unresponsive to messages. I received a $15 contribution from a follower for helping them, Buy Me a Coffee immediately took their "cut" leaving me to have to fight and beg for a $13.44 balance.

Long waiting times for customer service, I messaged 2 days ago and still nothing, I also sent email.

GREAT EXPERIENCE… I would definitely recommend this website to help further your journey while on social media!!

I’ve been with this company for good number years I always had the payments made very quickly. I’ve asked them to verify my method of payment to me. No reply. I am sick third day now I still wrote to them. No reply and it’s very basic question and very simple to answer the customer service is not good and I’ve been with these people for at least seven or eight years. I am starting to look for somebody else with similar product.

A scam, they said 7 days to refund my balance to supporters but 14 days has passed but nothing, even a response. Really disappointed with this platform! Stay away from them!! They will suspend your account and hold your money for no reasonable reason. Just a silence forever, waste of time, effort, and money 😡😡😡

Updated 01/27/2026: the refunds are all back to my supporters already, so I changed the rating. Still sad that my account is suspended but if this is final decision, I will have way but to accept

This is the perfect platform for my small gift program which supports cats on a Greek island. Very user friendly (even for a non-techie!) and I love that I can post updates and email to my supporters all at once. And the monthly membership function is perfect. Finally, customer support is very responsive. All in all a great experience over the last 3 years!

After trying for over half an hour to cancel this subscription it was a total waste of time it seems obvious that you don't want it cancelled so you can keep take the money it could be made much easier to be slbe to cancel but every time I get to the last screen it freezes. Sorry one big con hopefully the bank can help.
If you want to help then please cancel this subscription which i dont want.

Easy to join

I love using BuyMeACoffee - it's easy to create a shop and start receiving support/money for your products. The site has been constantly growing by adding new features, allowing more supported payment types, file types, adding discounts and etc. There was removal of PSD files from the supported format on the site, but after my "feature request" - I have received such a quick response from the Head of the Support Team and notification that they have now enabled support for .psd files on the platform. I am able to upload these files without any issues again going forward. I want to add that I daily and actively using this platform, I am digital freelance illustrator, bases creator & character designer - throughout the time (from 2022) I got over 3,500 supporters and in general thankful for everything what BuyMeACoffee does! Their customer service always polite, I am satisfied how fast I receive response from support team. Plus I would like to add that payouts system is amazing - haven't had any issues with any of that! Thank you so much, BuyMeACoffee, for taking care of your digital artists & creators!! ♥

Excellent customer service. Had issues submitting my link for approval but their rep was very helpful and everything worked out!

Support has sent me in circles repeatedly to locate and receive my payouts. I got sent to Stripe, who couldn't help me, and even asked me to get my donors to tell me their credit card info! Obviously a huge security and trust risk.

Now, BuyMeACoffee is making me send the same info repeatedly. A particularly frustrating staff member who is allowed to be anonymous as "Yogini," doesn't read my messages. She replies with links that don't lead to a solution. I send them a screenshot, she sends me back to the wrong page. The whole time refusing pay me my money. She claims there is some sort of secret email I used, when I only have the two addresses. This is weaponized incompetence. I get the feeling she's amused.

I've now spent over an hour on this nonsense. Next, is asking my last donor to complain to his credit card company. Because they've appropriated his money.
