About Lily's Kitchen

Written by the company

In 2008 our founder Henrietta started making food from scratch at her kitchen table in London for her Border Terrier Lily. All because she really, really loved her. That love for our pets started Lily’s Kitchen and still keeps us going today.

Pets are family and they deserve proper food
But what is proper food? Proper food means nutritionally complete recipes made by experts, labelled honestly, using ethically sourced natural ingredients. No meat meal, no additives and no cheap fillers. Just fresh meat, delicious veg, and herbs and botanicals that support your dogs’ and cats’ health so they can concentrate on sitting on laps, shoulders and heads, demanding walkies, 6am breakfasts and knocking things over with their tails ‘by accident’ – or so they claim.

For people, pets and the planet
We’re a certified BCorp. That means we believe in using business as a force for good. Here are a few of our guiding values:

Supporting charities
In the last 6 months we’ve donated over 28,000 meals to dog and cat shelters and we’re not stopping there. We’re always working on ways we can partner with charities of all sizes to help in any way we can, be it fundraising, donations or rolling up our sleeves and volunteering our own time.

Minimising our pawprint on the planet
From the way we work to improve our packaging (which is nearly all compostable or recyclable) to the cleaning products we choose for our office. Every decision has the planet at it’s core.

Being a BCorp and staying a BCorp
We are the founding UK BCorporation and every three years we re-certify by evidencing meeting the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.

I don't get the bad reviews on here

I don't get the bad reviews on here. This is great food for dogs. My previous two dogs were fed on it their entire lives and they lived happy, healthy lives for 15 years. I put my new pooch on a posh 'hand-made' dog food and ended up going back to Lily's as I know it will give her everything she needs (and more). The food looks and smells great and I've even eaten some of the kibble (nice, but don't try this at home kids). It's tinned or dried so there is no risk of food spoiling and/or contamination. I feel confident giving this food to my dog and that's very important to me. Thank you Lily's kitchen, from a many years customer.

I'm very confused

I'm very confused. I buy the smooth pate for my cats. The organic ones aswell. I've just recently ordered from Amazon as I was low and needed next day delivery. The store name was "Lilly's kitchen" Amazon's choice. The packaging and food was very different. The writing on the back was different. Can you please be transparent and let me know are the items you sell on your Amazon shop from Eu countries and the items you sell from your website and Pets at Home from the UK?

they packed adult dog food within a multi pack puppy food & failed to respond to my complaint !

I purchased a box of 6 cans of puppy food from pets at home to trial my new puppy on lilys kitchen …only to find that 3 of the cans were actually ADULT dog food and were not the correct cans I purchased/on the label! I was given fishy fish pie instead of the turkey puppy recipe and didn’t realise until my puppy started pulling her face and didn’t seem to enjoy it …. I emailed customer service team with all relevant information, including batch numbers and order information and I’ve been ignored for nearly 2 weeks now , I’ve not had any form of acknowledgment from them whatsoever.

Incredibly concerning to package adult dog food within puppy food and not take any accountability when issue was raised - not great customer service

Hi Olivia, thank you for taking the time to leave us this feedback. I'm very sorry to hear you had this experience with our recipes and services.

I want to reassure you that we respond to every email we receive, although during particularly busy periods it may take us a little longer than usual. When an email successfully reaches us, our system automatically sends an acknowledgement containing a 6‑digit ticket ID.

Lilys have gone above and beyond to help me with 2 lost deliveries. I initially emailed them when the first deliver was lost and they re sent the order at no extra cost to me. This delivery also went astray, I phoned customer services the lady was so helpful and understanding although it appeared the problem was down to Apple Pay adding a rogue address to my account lily re sent the order again at no additional cost. I would 100% recommend lilys they have been amazing.

Hi Jacky, thank you for taking the time to leave us this feedback. I'm very sorry to hear you had this experience with our recipes.

I'd like to reassure you that we have made no changes to how our recipes are made, we still prepare them with the same care and high‑quality ingredients you expect from us.

For us, pets are part of our family, so we try to create recipes that aim to resemble our own, such as Lamb Hotpot or Fish and Chips. We often name the lead protein in the recipe name, but you will find a full list of ingredients for all our recipes and treats on the back of all our labels, and on the relevant product page on our website. We would kindly recommend to check this if your little one has any intollerances or sensitivities.

If you would like to discuss this further, please do get in touch with us at [email protected] and we will be more than happy to help.

I will NEVER order from this company!!! NEVER!!!!!

I will NEVER order from this company again!!!

I’ve been using this company for at least 3–4 years, but this experience was the final straw.

The customer service is terrible, and the delivery is even worse. My first order was sent back to their warehouse without any notice to me. I waited an entire week with no information until I called them myself.

I decided to give them another chance for the replacement. Another week passed—still nothing was delivered. SO I wait for a month for the delivery!

When I contacted customer service again, all they did was make excuses. I told them I was completely fed up and requested a refund and cancellation of my subscription. They clearly don’t care about losing customers because they believe they have plenty of others. But I will tell everyone I know not to use this company.

Hi Shanshan, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m very sorry to hear about your experience with our service, and I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.

Once an order has been dispatched, our courier should provide updates, including notifications if a parcel is being returned to us, so I’m sorry to hear this did not happen on two separate occasions.

Please be assured that we truly value every customer. We carefully review all feedback we receive, and in cases like yours we raise investigations with our courier to understand what went wrong and prevent it from happening again.

As there are no order details included in this review, I’m unable to look into this further from here. However, if you would like us to investigate this for you, please contact us at [email protected] and we will be more than happy to help.

My cat no longer eats this since the change of recipe

Ordered the shredded fillets in broth wet food for my cat. She used to devour it (before the recipe change) but now doesn't. Since they changed the recipe it's been awful. The chicken looks dry, tough and somewhat looks yellowish. I've given her many weeks to try it but no luck. I won't be purchasing lily's kitchen anymore.

Hi Amanda, thank you for taking the time to leave us this feedback. I'm very sorry to hear your little one is not enjoying our recipes as much as before.

Most cats will be able to transition fully in one go, others who are particular about what they eat or those with more sensitivities may need to allow for a gradual transition. You as their pet parent will be best placed to make that call for your pet.

If your cat is particularly sensitive to small changes, you may want to transition them over to the new meals gradually. If so, please follow the steps below.

When transitioning your cat onto a new recipe, it’s best to introduce it into your cat’s diet bit by bit over about a week. Start with a mix of 4/5 of your current food to 1/5 of the new recipe. Day by day, increase the proportions until you’re feeding only the new recipe.

If you would like to discuss this further, please do get in touch with us at [email protected] and we will be more than happy to help.

I would like to reassure you that we work with experts including nutritionists and specialist product developers to create our recipes, which we also submit for vet approval before they launch for sale. Additionally, all of our recipes are regularly tested, both internally and externally, to ensure they are completely safe to feed.

In order for us to look into this further, I would kindly ask to get in touch with us at [email protected] with the recipe's batch details and we will be more than happy to help.

Excellent products and service

Excellent products and service.
Whilst more expensive than most brands, there is good justification for this. I believe dogs should be fed just as well as us humans. Dogs will undoubtedly suffer if fed low quality food.
The products, quality and variety is brilliant and I will continue to be a loyal customer so long as these high standards are upheld.
