Took a recently purchased Ibanez AG 95 in to have the action lowed, new strings fitted, and a general overhaul. When I went to pick it up a week later the action was perfect, the strings sounded great and everything else was in perfect working order. The guitar now looks and sounds wonderful. And John only charged me for lowering the action and putting on new strings. Thanks very much!

Brought my Jazzmaster in, thinking the rhythm circuit needed to be fixed due to buzzing, crackling and constantly dropping out altogether. In no time at all, John text to say it was ready for collection. He'd quickly figured out it was a volume pot at issue, and replaced it. Now working good as new.

Another great job , this time on my Epiphone Sheraton. Cant believe I gigged with the action so high for years. Suddenly find I'm loads better than I thought I was and can easily play the intro to 'I feel fine', something I couldn't get anywhere near before without my hand cramping up. Next planning on putting it in for an out of phase Peter Green pickup rewire. Wish I'd found John years ago

John literally breathed new life into my 30yr old Fender Stratocaster. The refret was better than the original and with a new nut and set up it now plays better than ever. Fantastic service at a great price. Will definitely be back for all my guitar needs.

I took my Fender Jazzmaster into String King Guitar Works after having a really great chat to John the owner over the phone. He talked me through what he could do, what the cost would be and was very helpful in fitting in my repair around practices. John serviced the electrics for me and added some copper shielding to the cavities to help reduce the hum. Very knowledgeable and super friendly, this is a guy with a passion for guitars! Highly recommended.

I recently had a complete colour change performed by John on a 3/4 sized Epiphone Les Paul and its little brother a matching Epiphone Les Paul Ukulele both from a shocking flame red to a warm wine red shade of his choice.

I was bowled over when I rocked up at his place to collect them as he had intuitively interpreted my wishes with the perfect colour and finish. The turnaround was also extraordinary at just 3/4 weeks and he went over and above to accommodate my disability by meeting me in the car park and doing the paperwork there.

Alongside being a lovely chap this guy has something special to offer and I will definitely return again soon. I don’t know how he’s done it but he’s even made the guitar feel tighter and more playable in the rebuild! Thank goodness for String King.

John was friendly, prompt and most importantly knows exactly what he is talking about and what he is doing when it comes to guitar maintenance and repair. John fixed a couple of issues with my instrument that had been bugging me for a year or so and the guitar now plays beautifully again.

John did a fantastic initial setup job on my new Fender Am Pro II Strat. I'm a fussy bugger but John was happy for me to pop back for some additional tweaks. The guitar now plays great and stays in tune, even after heavy bends and serious trem abuse! A note to all you Strat geeks out there, this is a really great version of the classic!

John is the best in the game. Just had my 3rd guitar back from the work shop and as ever, I am more than pleased. The set up is second to none. Frets evened, action perfect, intonation spot on. And to top it all off, a quick turn around and a fair price. Thanks John for all your hard work.

This was my 2nd time with String King and certainly won't be the last. John provides an expert service at an exceptionally reasonable price. This time it was a set up and fret dress on a Gibson Les Paul Gold Top. The guitar is now 100% more comfortable to play. Superb, thank you John.

3 vintage guitars that I got from ebay several years ago had until recently, stayed in cases, because they were unplayable. 2 Archtops and one parlour. After Johns magic I am now the proud owner of 3 great playing vintage guitars that have bags of mojo. John is such a lovely friendly guy and is genuinely passionate about guitars and the work he does. He is also a guitarist himself. That is a winning combination and I really couldn't recommend him highly enough.

John booked me in for an appointment providing all the details needed in no time. He took a look at my guitar and spotted immediately a small issue in my tuning. Fixed on the spot for £10. Finally my Gibson ES-335 is tuned! Strongly recommended!
