mike wheeler releases his first book and max shows him reviews of people thinking mike’s self-insert is gay and in love with will, not the other way around. by the time he’s released the 5th book, people are calling him a queerbaiter.

byler would try and do ‘roleplay’ but bc they’re dnd nerds they’d get too into it. mike would be like ‘and you get attacked by a dragon and you defeat him with your powers but I as your loyal paladin step in and deal the finishing blow. once the battle is over and i carry you in my arms to your bed chamber and tend to your wounds and then-‘ but they’d get the d20 out to decide how bad the wounds are and what spell will cast and how effective it was and then will breaks out the ‘artists’ pencil set’ mike gifted him to do a quick sketch of their outfits and a diagram of the fight and they’d forget to even have sex because the story becomes more and more elaborate and only in like a week when they have all the details planned out do they actually remember to have sex abt it.

in my head, el survives the finale, and i imagine she joins hopper and joyce in their move to montauk after the party graduates. they take the opportunity to turn it into a bit of a road trip for el, who is all too eager to see more of the world. they stop anywhere and everywhere she thinks is worth exploring, and by the time they’re in montauk she’s collected a million little keychains and knick-knacks and trinkets from each place they visited. soon she’s old and experienced enough to travel on her own and goes from place to place as she pleases—she can’t bring herself to stay in one place long, too excited for the next adventure.

whenever she feels homesick, she figures out which party member(s) she’s currently closest to, circles them on a map, and heads in their direction. she crashes in dustin’s dorm room at princeton and helps him study exotic matter (by doodling in the margins of his notes). she steals max away from lucas for a weekend of sleepovers and shopping sprees and long drives with the windows down and music blasting. she visits mike and will in whatever bustling city they end up in, and they argue about which pizza place to order from over a movie in their cramped, cozy apartment.

whenever her travels begin to wear her down and she feels like she needs to be home, she returns to montauk, where her bedroom will always be waiting for her. she watches soap operas with her parents and eats a warm, home-cooked meal. her hair is long enough to braid and her cheeks hurt from smiling so often and she is loved.

headcanon that miwi told each other "I love you" already cuz I worked with preschoolers to kindergarteners once and those kids were so open hearted they freely told their friends and teachers how much they love them

he would be SO MAD

i know he’s fictional and all but “mike stays repressed, turns into his dad and dies alone, while will is happy and thriving” is a thought that should make you sad, not vindicated. you think that a queer character deserves a lifetime of misery and self loathing just because he was insensitive as a teenager and couldn’t come to terms with his feelings fast enough? or even if you interpret him as straight now, then he deserves it because he didn’t reciprocate feelings? it makes you happy to see him lost and grieving because his girlfriend killed herself in front of him? 😭😭 ok. well i hope you know that even if he moves on from his feelings for mike and finds happiness in someone else, will byers would never want that fate for anyone, especially not his best friend.

Don’t think for a second that Stranger Things having a whole plot point of women being forced to carry babies to term by the government and then unceremoniously killing every single one of them off along with one of their only poc female characters AND the main female character who were both also abused and treated as nothing more than lab experiments by said government isn’t the Duffers making it clear who they side with in this political climate. It was not an accident and they are not this stupid. Do not give them the benefit of the doubt. What they have written is completely irresponsible and they cannot be allowed to continue having a platform without us resisting it.
