i'mm a witch and work with spirits. i really don't like religions, any kind, it makes me very uncomfortable. my mom's kinda christian. she did a "cleansing" ritual without my consent, mentioning the Lord. i feel kinda violated and uncomfortable. I understand she did it out of love, but it's still not pretty.

My question is: it won't affect my spiritual journey? I worked really hard on it. i don't wanna just lose it all. thanks for answering if you will.

hey! i am really sorry that happened to you. even with the best of intentions, it still sucks to have someone do something like that without your consent.

i truly don't believe it'll affect your spiritual journey. i think that the lord would want you to do what makes the most sense for you, even if that means not including religion in your spiritual practice.

now, i'm not a practicing christian but i was raised catholic and i do still reach out from time to time especially to ask about my mom/grandpa since they passed - regardless of what the bible says about idolization and witchcraft, i have never been dissuaded from my path in the name of organized religion by jesus christ himself - if anything, he welcomes my presence and he listens and then sets me free when we are done.

idk if that's comforting or not, but i guess it's all to say that despite what your mom did, he wouldn't want you to fret over it.

do a cleansing on yourself in whatever way you want for a little reset, and go from there.

re: your tags about salt. you need to be looking at history and science as well - salt has been used to cure and preserve meat all over the world for aaaaages which is one of the reasons it is commonly used for spiritual cleansing and protection - protection from food spoilage = protection from evil. anyways here's an article with scholarly sources that may interest you:

not every witch has access to metaphysical shops that sell specialty herbs, or herbs you can’t find in your local grocery store, so here is a list of common (and affordable) herbs and spices that you can easily access, or that you may already have!

aside from obtaining these herbs and spices individually, look for bottles of poultry or beef seasoning, and other seasoning blends (cajun, italian, etc.) - they usually contain a variety of these herbs in one convenient container.

i cleaned my house today, like full on deep clean of 2 out of 4 rooms, and my body is SUFFERING. i sat "wrong" for a little too long when i was finished and now my hip pain is shooting down to my ankle and i am having trouble putting weight on it so that's not great. 🙃

I've had face-to-face conversations with people who use it for therapy, who use it to calculate the safety of pill interactions, who use it for all their emails and grant applications and legal documents and academic papers and finance sheets and for every single question they have about the world, and if you tell them about the ecological costs they just laugh and say "I guess I've used a lot of water." and I've been in multiple gatherings of 10+ people where I'm THE ONLY PERSON who doesn't use chatgpt. it's turning me into a ranting raving pariah, because how don't you people see??? why don't you understand??????? this bullshit didn't exist five years ago, you absolutely do not need it, and it is destroying everything
