And all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well when the tongues of flame are in-folded into the crowned knot of fire and the fire and the rose are one.
'Then I must leave my own people, man of Gondor?' she said. 'And would you have your proud folk say of you: "There goes a lord who tamed a wild shieldmaiden of the North! Was there no woman of the race of Numenor to choose?" 'I would,' said Faramir. And he took her in his arms and kissed her under the sunlit sky, and he cared not that they stood high upon the walls in the sight of many.

I took Annabelle to the vet this morning because I was a bit worried about her teeth (I paid $100 to be told she's fine, which: worth every penny), and got the excellent news that she has gained almost two and a half pounds in the eight months since she came home! She behaved so well, and everyone was very impressed at a) how pretty she is, and b) how l o n g she is.

She was not happy about being put in her carrier, and there was a dog barking in the waiting room that wigged her out a bit, so I tried to apologize via Churu when we got home -- she didn't want it, but as I apologized she kept rubbing against my legs, then sat down next to my feet as I caught up on work emails. Like she was saying, "well, I didn't enjoy that, but you are forgiven".

How I got so lucky as to be blessed with two absolutely amazing cats in a row, each in their own way, I will never know. But I'm so grateful.

I haven't done too much spinning this year so far (though I've got something lovely on the bobbin now!), so here are my last spins of 2025!

The top blue/green/brown yarn is a very rugged Romney (I forget where I bought this, but it might have been Rag Hill Farm?), spun as a two-ply -- a bit rough, but it bloomed gorgeously once I plied it. About 107yds out of 4oz of fiber.

The rainbow yarn is from Spun Monkey Fiber (sadly no longer dying!), a lovely Falkland wool. I messed up the color progression while spinning the singles, so I tried cutting and rematching the colors before I plied, which...did not end well. Lesson learned! I also need to work on spinning equal amounts of singles -- up till now, the goal has really just been "get yarn on the bobbin that doesn't fall apart when plied" -- but it's SO squishy and soft, and I ended up loving the mismatched rainbow. About 132 yds out of 4oz of fiber.

(I'm SO pleased with how much more consistent my singles are, just three months in -- look at how pretty they are on the bobbin!)

The more I chat with other knitters who have done/are doing The Knitting Guild Association's Master Hand Knitter certification, the more it sounds like the knitting version of the N7 program, which if anything has made me more excited to take this on.
