i KNOW mike turned went up the stairs after that last finale dnd game and will messed his sideparted hair up and laughed at the vampire teeth and promised it wasnt the end of all their campaigns. max and lucas and dustin haven’t been told that will and mike are dating yet but they might know, just a little. byler are dating in secret and i choose to believe in that . fuck the real ending!! forced conformity is whats killing the kids

byler's gonna haunt me forever because the setup was there. incredibly so. and it says volumes that when they massacred byler the rest of the show fell with it.... they had to ignore the 15 chekovs guns in their closet and nerfed the cyrano trope, sidelined will and lobotomized mike, and produced an unsatisfactory finale in order to NOT end the show with byler just because they're that ingrained in the narrative. and their ending is still ambiguous so they could (ARE) 100% ending up tg post-canon. i hope they haunt the duffers forever <3
the thing i like the most about conformitygate that it's literally not over till it's over
like, it's an eternal theory, it literally can't be disproven. idgaf if duffers themselves come to my house and tell me to shut up bc it's not happening. it can only be proven right by ep9 coming out. if it never comes out, it doesn't disprove a theory
the core of the theory isn't the "secret finale" that was supposed to come out on jan 7, it's endless plotholes, so the theory will exist as long as there are plotholes left. it's not a "we found a proof that there's ep9 coming soon" theory, it's a "finale sucks so much and has so many plotholes that we managed to create a whole ass credible explanation that makes infinitely more sense than the actual show" theory
and i don't care if it never comes out, this theory is so cool that it's already replaced canon in my mind and I give full credit to byler community for it, duffers can fuck off, i don't need anything from them regardless
it really sucks that we didn't get anything good from actual canon and i hate that the responsibility to make some good representation always falls on the fandom, but at the same time it gives us freedom to do whatever we want with these characters, and we proved that we can do some actually incredible things
this show has inspired many people to pursue writing and finale inspired even more people by how bad it was, myself included, and hopefully one day we will create mainstream shows/books/etc. of our own that will actually uplift the outcasts and give voice to the marginalized. i see bright future ahead of us!!!!
The concept of conformitygate is genuinely more unsettling and WAY scarier than anything this show has done all season. I can't even explain it. Just the phrase "wake up, Mike" creeps me out for some reason. The idea of being stuck in this fake world where you're miserable, but it feels completely real, and people are trying to get you to wake up, but you can't, and the whole time there's this Truman Show paranoia of thinking there's a grand conspiracy and maybe someone's out to get you, but you don't know who's in on it or who to trust or if you can trust ANYONE, and the whole time it's so hard to escape because our instinct is to accept the reality around us even if it's boring and we're not happy with it.

i can’t believe they made vecna’s entire persona revolve around clocks, the whole creepy ticking sound, they made his birthday the same as wills, nov6 having significance as the day will was taken and the final battle , and zooming into the plays date(nov 6) and they even made the entire upside down a wormhole, and then the finale had absolutely nothing time related in it.
