I like this version a lot. Yes it's squigglier and less "neat" than on other breeds but this does not make it look rushed to me. As people have said, it looks a lot more natural and like a pattern you'd find on a real animal. I wish other breeds got this larger pattern too, it looks much better than the Fathom version which is on the other extreme of being too neat and sticking too close to the wing edges.

I like how unique it is to Sandsurges. Having every gene be an exact copypaste gets boring after a while to me. If I want the wing-edge look, I'll get a different dragon. This leaves a nice variety for others. I know people have mentioned the idea of like, Flair v1 and Flair v2 existing, to me this is just along those same lines.
I don't think people will be encouraged to make more unique gene variations when every intended variation is treated like The Worst Possible Thing. It's impossible to please the entire playerbase, though. Some will love the variations, some will despise them. Clearly staff wants this to vary, and sometimes a gene just can't be 1:1.
I would prefer spinner stays as it is on Sandsurges, but since they're a gem breed I almost never use them, and so I wouldn't care if it got changed.

Oh my dragons that's actually so good. It looks like the gene! It's pleasent to look at! It doesn't look rushed! I'd use this immediately! It actually matches with itself on the very same pose!

yeah i don't like it. it looks a little unfinished/unpolished/rushed for me. like if someone had a brush with the skink pattern and then just quickly drew over the wings with that :(

The way it looks on the M pose feels rather odd to me, the headcrests look as if they use the edge-adhering pattern of the original Spinner. Aside from that I'm fine with this variant, even if I prefer the OG look - I really like this edit in particular. But I can also see myself using this variant, so I hope it stays as is.

i think that we've had enough instances of genes being dramatically changed for consistency in a way that messes things up for people who already own dragons with them and we don't need more
personally as a Spinner Enjoyer i think it's cute. its got personality
I think it's interesting bc it's more unique

I personally love all examples of creative choices the devs make that makes the breeds their “own”
