TOPIC | How do we feel about Sandsurge Spinner?
I might actually use Spinner if it's like this. Spinner is normally either too plain or boring, rigid and unnatural all at once. This actually looks natural and my only ideal change would be more gradient on the headfins

It looks so much more like a pattern that you can find in nature and makes the dragons feel much more alive. [/quote] honestly? yeah. i was ambivalent on sandsurge spinner until Leaf mentioned that it looks more like a natural lizard pattern that you'd see, and i have to agree with that. as nice as the mock-up "fixes" are, they look more... stiff? artificial? painted on? than the type of pattern you'd see on, i dunno, a gecko or anole that you grab in your backyard.

Meh. Have no issues with it. I think it looks fine.

I didn't like it at first but it's grown on me a lot - I rarely use skink/spinner so it doesn't affect me either way, but I don't think it's ugly or hastily done. Obviously not everyone will think the same way or has to like every iteration of every gene, but I do wonder how many players in the thread had an initial knee-jerk reaction and have grown to like it after sitting with it for a while

As for changes for consistency, I think once Staff has made a definite confirmation that the look of something is intended, it should never be changed (minus actual technical bug fixes) regardless of the playerbase opinion - some genes just need some time to settle in and get used to, the devs have a right to decide how their own games look, and big changes for the sake of consistency after launch will only ever cause big backlash as players have their dragons suddenly changed without warning (doubly so if we have confirmation that the gene is working as intended)

I'm pretty neutral on it. I don't mind it, I think the mocked up 'fixes' are also neat.

What's getting me is the bland patch right by the neck before the patterning really starts. That's the biggest thing that's throwing me off personally, it just looks like it's missing extra patterning there and maybe it wouldn't be so weird then?
