2 hours wasted.
2 hours wasted. I accidentally transferred some money from my current account (with another bank) to my Virgin current account. OK, my silly mistake, but not a big deal I thought, I can just transfer it back. Oh no I couldn't. When I tried to tranfer it back from Virgin into the account I took it from, it would not let me do more than £500 per day. Did the live chat. No joy, I had to have the App. Long wait on the phone to customer services to see if they woud effect the transfer. Was told I could transfer up to £30,000 if I had the App. I do not want the App as I prefer to bank online on my laptop. OK, then apparently I can do telephone banking, but then another long rigmarole in setting this up and even after setting all the various codes I couldn't get into it. So I downloaded the App, did the transfer, then have removed the App. I have been with a number of banks over the years and NEVER have I been unable to transfer my OWN money to another of my OWN accounts on line. I will stay with Virgin pro tem as I have an ISA wth them and a regular saver both at decent interest rates, but when they come to an end I shall close my accounts. Not surprised there are so many one star reviews here.
Saw the reply from Virgin. I fail to see why an app is more secure than the website, seeing as you not only have to give username and password on the laptop but you then get a 4 digit pass code texted to you. This is an unsatisfactory response and does not explain the anomaly of why you can get 30K out on a phone (which could be stolen) and only £500 on a laptop. I will have to go through all this nonsense again when I withdraw matured savings, as I won't be leaving them with virgin unless they change their processes.
