#thisarejustamazingI’m just laughing at so much here😂😂
I’m so intrigued by this exchange because it establishes that Erik DID know about the paralysis. How and why did he come by this information? What did he do about it – did he contact Charles, or just wallow in guilt from afar? Where is the ficccc?
I don’t have anything to add about how Erik knew Charles was paralyzed, I’m just reblogging because they look REALLY GOOD in these gifs and I spent 5 minutes just staring at them and sighing like a schoolgirl.
My headcanon is that when everybody settles the fuck down (Erik I’m looking at you) he and Raven start wondering how the others fared after they took off, and he has Azazel look in on them from afar. When they find out about the paralysis, Raven is too upset and conflicted and guilt ridden to do anything but cry, where as Erik DOES go to see Charles to face the music (because he CARES and also because no one can ever convince me that Erik wouldn’t blame himself and beat himself over the head with Charles’ injury for the rest of time). Of course they have the same non-conversation they had on the beach, which pretty much gets us to the same place…the two of them going separate ways.
I can absolutely see that happening.
My headcanon is that, yes, Erik went to see Charles after learning he’d been paralyzed - and that the huge fight they had when he showed up at Charles’ house was the reason he didn’t seek asylum there after the JFK assassination. (I also headcanon that Erik didn’t get caught right away, or kept escaping until the govt finally built that cell underneath the Pentagon for some reason.)
I love any headcanon that reduces the amount of time Erik would have spent in solitary because no way did he spend ten years in solitary.
headcanon that both erik and charles are absolute shite at chess but they both assume they’re fantastic because they never play anyone else
Charles probably suspected something was wrong when Erik’s rook “jumped” Charles’ Bishop, but didn’t want to admit he didn’t know that rule.
“Ah, the ‘moving three pawns at once’ opening. Audacious, Erik, audacious.”
The prison gards in x2 watching the game over the cameras like…
“W-What are they…what’s going on - Matt look at this shit.”My favorite part of this is that on a meta level, in the X-men movies, one of the random trivia facts I’ve heard is that neither Ian McKellan nor Patrick Stewart know how to play chess, so they just randomly moved pieces around the chessboard when they said their lines. Every once in a while they would do something dramatic and symbolic like going to checkmate, when the script would call for it, but the rest of the time they have no idea what they’re doing.
So, in a way, this is canon :)
There is so much more to you than you know. Not just pain and anger. There is good, too. I felt it. When you can access all of that, you will possess a power no one can match. Not even me.
