Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. People express widespread dissatisfaction with the service provided, citing issues such as slow internet speeds and frequent outages. Consumers also report problems with subscriptions, including unexpected contract extensions and difficulties terminating services. The cost of the service is another sore point, with reviewers mentioning unexpected price increases and hidden fees. Furthermore, a significant number of consumers have voiced concerns about the quality of customer service. Many reviewers describe the staff as unhelpful, rude, and primarily focused on upselling rather than addressing their concerns. Consumers report long wait times to speak with a representative, only to receive inaccurate information or unhelpful solutions.

Dear Salt Customer Service Team,

Dear Salt Customer Service Team,

I am writing to share my experience with Salt’s services. While I appreciate the services offered, I have faced several issues that need attention. I have found it extremely difficult to reach customer support, and every interaction I have had has been useless, never resolving any of my problems. I have also experienced unexpected charges and difficulties when trying to cancel services, and being locked into a 24-month contract without clear communication has been frustrating. In addition, the general quality of your internet service is very poor, with slow speeds and unreliable connections in many areas. Even after terminating my contract, I continued to receive bills, which caused unnecessary stress and confusion.

Given these experiences, I cannot recommend Salt’s services. I hope this feedback can be used to improve the experience for future customers. I would appreciate any guidance on resolving the outstanding issues related to my account.

Thank you for your attention to these matters.

The worst operator in Switzerland

We opened a phone number with the Surf unlimited tariff. We mistakenly provided the wrong document and were unable to complete the online identification process, so we decided to do it by mail. The post office refused to issue the document because it was mixed up. We called Salt to ask what we should do. The operator said that he had created a request and we just had to wait. We waited a week, but there was no response. We called again and were told, "I will create a request," but were asked to send a valid document. Another week of silence passed, we called, and the response was, "We cannot open your document, please send it again." We waited a whole week to hear this. Why didn't anyone respond? What if I hadn't called? Because of this success and the coldness of the operators, our tariff was postponed for two months, for which we paid, even though we didn't have a SIM card.
We decided to close the number, and the operator spent half an hour pestering us with discounts and other offers. It was awful. We agreed to close the number on January 21 (the closing date was December 15, 2025).
We breathed a sigh of relief until we received a bill for 226 francs in January for early termination of the contract. The contract states that it is valid for at least one month, which was complied with. We had to call again and ask for clarification. The operator confirmed that it was a mistake and submitted a request. Salt deducted 206 francs, saying, "This is a gesture of goodwill." No, you tried to impose a penalty on us without justification. All the conditions were met, and you had to admit your mistake. They left 20 francs to be paid because "you closed the number earlier than a month." Let me remind you that we called on December 15, and the operator closed the number on January 21. More than a month has passed here. These guys make money any way they can. This story has been going on for three months now, and it's just unbearable. No one kindly responds to emails, so we have to call personally, even though we have difficulty with the language.

Hi Mattia, thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you experienced difficulties with the contract cancellation process. To clarify, contracts with a 24-month minimum term have a 60-day notice period. In your case, you initially submitted a regular cancellation request. Subsequently, you also submitted a cancellation via a porting request. A porting request automatically counts as a new cancellation and replaces any previous one. Because this second cancellation was submitted after the 60-day notice period, the contract end date was adjusted accordingly. We understand that this can be frustrating, but these steps are based on the terms agreed to when the contract was signed. Once a new cancellation or porting request is received, the notice period is always calculated from the date of that new request. If you have any questions, we are always available at 0800 700 700 and happy to assist. We appreciate your understanding and wish you all the best. Kind regards, Sarah

Switching from Swisscom to Salt, a mistake

After nearly 30 years with Swisscom, switching to Salt was a serious mistake. I was locked into a 24-month contract without clear explanation, billed for rejected calls while abroad, charged roaming fees despite being told Europe was included, and invoiced even before my router was connected.
A “CHF 2 fix” sold in-store later turned out to quietly extend my contract by six more months.
Weak TV offering, constant upselling, and condescending customer service complete the picture.
Poor transparency, aggressive lock-ins, and questionable billing. I regret leaving Swisscom and strongly advise others to read every clause and check every invoice.

Hi, we’re sorry to hear that your experience with Salt didn’t meet your expectations and that the switch from your previous provider was disappointing. Hi Soren, thank you for your review. We’re sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied and wouldn’t recommend us. Customer satisfaction is our top priority, and our sales team is trained to interact with customers in a respectful and professional manner. We want to emphasize that it is never our intention to pressure customers, and such behavior does not reflect our advisory standards. Monthly contracts have a 30-day notice period at the end of the contract, not 60 days as you mentioned. We would also like to point out that the notice period is specified in the contract, which you have read and signed. The minimum contract duration for monthly contracts is therefore 1 month. If you have any questions about this, feel free to reach out to us via email at [email protected]. Best regards, Sarah

Hello Jonathan, thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied. We only call our customers to offer contract renewal options if they have consented to this in their account settings. Of course, you are under no obligation to accept these offers, and we are sorry that this was perceived as a threat. Our aim is simply to make customers aware that the promotional discount may expire, and the full subscription price will apply if the contract is not cancelled in time. If you no longer wish to receive marketing calls, you can easily deactivate them at any time in your account. We are also sorry to hear that you experienced issues with your home internet. Our team always strives to resolve every issue in the best and most efficient way possible. If there is anything else we can assist you with, we are happy to help. Kind regards, Sarah

Very bad mobile service

Very bad mobile service. I live close to a big city and my antenna is overloaded, leading to low speed even with a 5G connection and often during the day there are sudden unpredictable disconnections that can last for minutes. I often complained with the first level support and they were clueless in figuring out that the issues was with their quality of service. Only pressing for a technical support finally made them admit it was their issue and no solution was possible even if this issue dragged on for more than one year. Avoid this company if you need mobile connection, you pay a service they cannot deliver.

Hello Alberto, thanks for your review. We are very sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating it is when the connection does not meet expectations. A reliable network is essential, and we take your feedback seriously. We continuously invest in improving and expanding our network to provide the best possible service at competitive prices. However, in certain areas, temporary limitations or disruptions can unfortunately still occur. Over recent years, including this year, our network has been recognised several times for its strong performance. Most recently, Salt improved by 20 points year on year, reaching 972 out of 1,000 points, the highest increase among national operators in Switzerland. This reflects our ongoing efforts in network modernisation and the expansion of our 5G infrastructure. We regret that this was not your experience and sincerely hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back as a customer in the future. Kind regards, Sarah

New Customer: Bad Experience (Salt Home)

UPDATE
Shortly after my review Salt managed to activate the connection, and it is working very well. They also offered a deduction on the next invoice due to the inconvenience.
Therefore I upgrade the rating, still encouraging them to achieve a shorter resolution time for this kind of issues.

After 20+ years with another provider, I switched to Salt fibre (Salt Home) based on several friends' recommendation. I started the connection on Jan 13 and it did not work, apparently due to a problem in the line. The Cablex technician confirmed everything is fine in the house and indicated that further checks in the distribution "boxes" was needed. After almost a week the connection is still not working, and the Salt support advisors are not able to provide clear information on the status and on when the solution should be expected. I also filed a complaint (ref. 27114735) to which I have not yet received feedback.

Choose any other provider

Choose any other provider - If I could rate them lower I would.

Initially everything seemed fine, I signed up my partner and I to a contract each, she was living and working in the country and I would be visiting back and forth.

My partner had a Europe xl contract and I had a Europe data package.

As we had invested in the Europe packages we excepted the services to work well when we travelled to and from.
However when we used the phones abroad, the data never worked, you couldn’t load any web pages or even send messages with WhatsApp. Useless and a complete waste of money.

Nevertheless we persisted with the useless phones because we were tied to the contract.

My partner and I are now leaving the country permanently due to personal circumstances and are trying to cancel the contracts. We were originally told we would be able to cancel them if we were to leave the country with no issues, however it has been anything but.

We visited the store initially thinking it would be the easiest solution as I was only able to visit for a short time, but they pass you a business card with phone number to call and send you away.

We tried the number which is only open during the week, however it is closed due to the Christmas holidays.
I have then called from the UK, I had to sit on hold for 15 minutes before I was through to someone, all of this time being charged to my next bill.
Once I was through to the operator I explained my situation, where they then put me through to another team focused on contracts as though she was part of the cancellation team she wasn’t a specialist.
I had to explain myself again only to be told I would have to pay the full cost of my cancellation as I did not have the papers to say I was leaving the country.

I then received the cancellation email with a link hidden in the text, taking me ti a web page, where I can cancel without the full contract term but a cancellation fee instead.

All of which goes against my original information that I had from the store.

As it stands I am waiting for the final cost to cancel, but poor customer service, very average phone service and an expensive mistake ever considering them.
Whatever you do - choose a different provider…

Hello William, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We regret to hear that you feel dissatisfied. As already mentioned in our response to your partner’s review, we would like to clarify a few points to ensure the situation is understood correctly. As you mentioned yourself, both you and your partner entered into a contract with us, each with a minimum contractual term of 24 months. Your partner’s subscription was based on the Europe XL price plan, while yours was based on a Europe Data price plan. However, both were full subscriptions governed by a contract; the difference lies solely in the price plans, not in the contractual commitment. By entering into these agreements, a 24-month minimum term was agreed. From a contractual perspective, the decision to relocate is considered a unilateral decision. As a result, an early termination does not automatically end the contractual obligations, which is why early cancellation fees apply. These conditions were part of the contract accepted at the time of subscription. When submitting your cancellation request due to relocation via the dedicated online link, you were offered two options: A free cancellation at the end of the contractual term or an early cancellation on a date of your choice with a reduced fee. By offering a reduction of the contractually agreed fees, we aimed to accommodate your situation despite the circumstances. You chose this option, and your request is currently being processed by the responsible department. We wish you all the best for the future.
Kind regards, Sarah

Hello Jason, thank you for your review. We are very sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied. Over the past few years, we have significantly developed our online services to better meet the needs of our customers (Mobile App, online payments, etc.). With the introduction of payment methods such as Twint, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and Apple Pay, the volume of instant payments made via Salt and My Account has increased considerably, resulting in additional technical processing and costs. The primary purpose of this service is to allow a quick reactivation of your subscription in case of delayed payment. To help cover these costs and continue investing in improving our services, Salt applies a flat fee of CHF 0.95 per transaction. Nevertheless, there are still several free alternatives to the charged instant payments. You can find more information on this at: https://www.salt.ch/en/mobile/bill-payment. Kind regards, Sarah

On October 11

On October 11, I applied online to Salt, but the application process was never completed. I never received any contract, terms and conditions, or any document to sign.

After receiving an email stating that I had to complete the process within 48 hours, I sent several emails explaining that I was experiencing technical issues and could not finalize the application. None of these emails were answered, so I decided not to proceed.

Despite this, Salt started sending me invoices. They began billing me without my consent, without a signed contract, and for a service I never received.

They claim that documents were sent to my address, but they were returned. Now, they are even requesting a termination fee for a contract that I never signed and a service I never used.

Although I sent multiple emails clearly explaining the situation, the last email I sent was rejected with a message saying that the email address is no longer in use. They now say that they will contact me by phone.

This is clearly fraudulent behavior.

I demand the immediate and free cancellation of a service I never received, and the cancellation of all unjustified charges.

Serap

Hello Serap, thank you very much for your review. We regret to read that you are dissatisfied. According to the information available to us, you independently concluded a legally valid contract with us online on October 11, 2025. You completed all required fields in the order form and went through all steps of the ordering process until the final confirmation of the contract. Immediately thereafter, a copy of the contract was sent to you by email, together with the General Terms and Conditions, as well as a separate email requesting you to complete the ID check for identity verification.
This verification can easily be completed online by scanning your identity document and your face. We can assure you that there are currently no general issues with the ID check, and many customers are able to complete the verification without any problems. If the online identity verification does not work, it must be carried out by the postal service upon delivery of the SIM card. You were also informed about this by email. The SIM card was returned to us twice for reasons that cannot be attributed to Salt. Even if you have changed your mind, this does not release you from your contractual obligations. Therefore, as already communicated, the contract can only be terminated in accordance with the contractually agreed notice period. You were informed about this again by email today. Should you have any further questions, we will be happy to assist you. Kind regards, Sarah

Cancellation Nightmare – Unlawful 89 CHF Charges After Lawful Aug 28 Termination

Terminated all contracts on August 28, 2025 with proper notice—Salt confirmed, yet hit me with bogus September bills (89 CHF vs. my 34.95 CHF plan), blocked number porting to trap my son's line, and forced lawyer briefs just to fight their scam tactics.

Predatory delays, ignored emails, and surprise fees mirror endless complaints—pure theft exploiting expats who demand short contracts they never honor

Hello Aleksander, in most cases, a discount is valid for the duration of the contract term, for example 24 months. If you terminate the contract in due time and in accordance with the notice period, you are entitled to the discount until the end of the contract term. If the contract is neither renewed nor terminated in due time, it is automatically extended on a 30-day basis, with a notice period of 60 days still applying. In this case, entitlement to the discount ends at the original contract end date, and the full subscription fee will be charged. As far as I can see, you have been in contact with the relevant department several times and have received all the relevant information in various emails. We always endeavoured to assist you with any concerns and very much regret your cancellation. Nevertheless, we hope to welcome you back as a Salt customer one day. Kind regards, Sarah
