“Inventor - Support - Disruption
McGinnis is a Hero in Deadlock. She wields a machine gun and her abilities revolve around the usage of structures like turrets and walls, which she can create to support allies and hold down positions to the benefit of her team. If the situation goes awry, she can launch a powerful barrage of rockets at her enemies.
A talented engineer who started her career from a young age, McGinnis isn't fond of theoretical work, thus spending most of her time working in a mechanics shop, often meddling with the supernatural. While the ethics of brainstorming the occult war machine are grey at best, McGinnis isn't that fussed so long as she gets her paycheck.
Abilities[edit | edit source]
Mini Turret
Turrets gain 10HP per Boon. They deal reduced damage to troopers and objectives.
- Turret targeting works as follows:
- It will initially target the nearest enemy hero in line of sight when it is placed. If no hero is in sight, it will target the nearest enemy unit.
- It will only switch targets once its initial target dies or leaves sight, or when McGinnis starts shooting a hero in sight, in which case all turrets will attempt to aim at the hero being shot.
- Shooting a unit or hitting an enemy hero with melee attacks, abilities or items will not change the turret's target.
- T1 Movement Slow lasts for 1.3s.
- Turrets are not affected by weapon damage falloff/ramp up, thus normal falloff and the damage bonuses from
Close Quarters,
Point Blank and their upgrades do not apply.
- The healing and fire rate bonuses do not stack when multiple Specters cover the same area.
- All of Specter's buffs (including augments from items like
Healing Tempo) will linger for 1 second after stepping outside of it's AoE. The linger effect will extinguish alongside Specter if the latter's duration ends before 1 second.
Spectral Wall
After casting, press Fire button or Ability 3 button to erupt the wall early.
- Spectral wall has a set time of 1.8 seconds to reach it's max range, with its base speed being 27.77...m/s. Thus, the speed of the wall increases proportionally to an increase of its range with items like
Mystic Expansion or
Arcane Surge.
Heavy Barrage
McGinnis is slowed and is still able to use stamina.
- Deals 50% damage to objectives.
- The 30% slow from upgrade 1 lasts for 2 seconds.
- McGinnis is slowed by while using her ult, this slow is reduced by "Movement Slow Resist" from items like Enduring Speed and can also be cleansed for the duration of Unstoppable.
- The files state that her ult slows her by 54%, but this appears to vary depending on her current move speed.
- Her base speed (6.8m/s) is reduced by 38.2% to 4.2m/s, at 10m/s her speed will be reduced by 43% to 5.7m/s.

Increases fire rate as the guns spins up
| |||
Notes[edit | edit source]
- Services Rendered takes 2 seconds to spin up, increasing McGinnis' fire rate and bullet spread, and slowly winds down at 25% per second (4 seconds total at max spin) as indicated by the grey indicator around the crosshair.
- The DPS and Bullets per second stats listed in game use the max spin up values.
- Services Rendered's base fire rate starts at 5 bullets per second (Cycle time: 0.2) and spins up to 12.5 bullets per second (Cycle time: 0.08), averaging around 11 Bullets per second per clip at the beginning of a match.

Background[edit | edit source]
“Maggie McGinnis always had a knack for building things. At 4 she was using Lincoln Logs to recreate architectural marvels. At 10 she built and rewired a custom light fixture for her parent's anniversary. At 15 she designed a machine that refined the souls of the dead...that last one got a little more attention than the Lincoln Logs.
Now the head of Fairfax Industries Military R&D department, McGinnis spends her time in the machine shop, not in a lab. She's not interested in theory, to her science is magic you can touch.
Lore[edit | edit source]
McGinnis' wish is unknown, although it's implied that she's using the ritual as a chance to test some weaponry.[1][2] In The Binding of Oathkeeper, McGinnis helps Lady Geist due to the chance to "harness the power of a God".[3]
McGinnis' first name is Margaret, but she goes by Maggie.[4]
Maximilian Fairfax "paraded McGinnis incessantly" to the New York elite when he first discovered her as a genius teenage inventor.[5] McGinnis was famously known as a "kid genius".[6][7]
As the head engineer of Fairfax Industries Military R&D department, McGinnis brainstorms the occult war machines.[8][9] While it's unknown where McGinnis' inventions have been used, it's said that she may be resposible for millions of deaths.[10][11] As a "notorious misanthrope", McGinnis doesn't really care about the deaths she's caused or the sins of Fairfax Industries.[12][13][14]
While McGinnis doesn't love working for Fairfax Industries, she's content with being a "wage slave" since she gets paid a fortune.[13][15] McGinnis was worried that she would lose her job when Fairfax lost the sovereignty of the Island of Cadenza to the US Government.[16][17]
McGinnis is aware and makes it known that Spectral Wall usually backfires on her team.[18][19][20]
McGinnis' equipment and weaponry is powered by souls.[21][22]
McGinnis likes to drink beer.[5]
Character interactions[edit | edit source]
- In The Binding of Oathkeeper, one possible storyline includes McGinnis building a new ward for
Lady Geist. - McGinnis consistently mistakes
Kelvin's name for "Kevin".[23][24] All of McGinnis' pings for Kelvin include a variant where she calls him "Kevin". - McGinnis accuses
Calico of stealing her ideas.[25]
- It's possible this is referring to Calico's old lore as a weapons dealer, as Calico used to use turrets while she was in Hero Labs.
- McGinnis wants to talk to
Shiv and "fix him".[26][27] - McGinnis is "not a fan" of
Cadence.[28] - McGinnis wants to sample
Viscous' goo.[29] - McGinnis doesn't frequent
Infernus' bar, Jezebel's, because she finds it "too fancy". She does, however, want to go when infernus offers her a free drink.[30] - McGinnis is impressed by the craftsmanship used to create
Bebop and shows interest in hiring his creator, Ms. Shelly.[31] - McGinnis offers help to remove
Seven's headgear.[32] - McGinnis offers to upgrade
Dynamo's body.[33] - McGinnis appreciates what
Ivy has done for New York.[34][35] - McGinnis makes fun of
Grey Talon and
Infernus for not using guns.[36][37]
Pocket loathes McGinnis due to her work for Fairfax Industries.[38][39][40]
Seven criticizes McGinnis for her lack of creativity.[41]
The Doorman calls McGinnis "the brightest mind humanity has to offer".[42]
Mina and
Wraith call McGinnis "Fairfax's pet genius".[43][44]
Paradox is interested in McGinnis' research and the secrets she holds for Fairfax.[45][46] McGinnis has been trying to keep Paradox out of her lab.[47]

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- In Neon Prime, McGinnis was named Forge. She had a relationship with Astro (Holliday).[48][49] She trained fighting with Lash in his dojo.[50][51]
- McGinnis' design is similar to popular depictions of the American World War II cultural icon Rosie the Riveter - notably the red headband, blue shirt, jeans overalls, red socks and bulky physique.
- McGinnis and Bebop are currently tied for the highest base ammo count at 66.
- In The Binding of Oathkeeper artwork, McGinnis has a mermaid tattoo in her left shoulder.
- McGinnis' Heavy Barrage sound effects were changed to sound less like a real air raid siren.
- "Tinkering in the Hideout" is displayed as one's status in the in-game Friends List when playing as McGinnis in the Hideout.
