So much time wasted and frustration caused by incompetent staff not knowing how their software is designed to work. I was literally told to hang up and call back in the hope that the next person who answers can help. Very poor, disappointing and unprofessional service. 1 hour phone call and no further forward

I have been a QuickBooks customer since…
I have been a QuickBooks customer since 2024. QuickBooks provides a native app to connect Shopify stores to QuickBooks Online. The app serves three core functions: syncing orders, syncing payments against those orders, and syncing platform fees. They recently released a major update which has broken all of this.
Rushed rollout
The new app was released on 21st January with only six days to migrate before the old app stops working. It is clear this update was released without proper internal testing and lacks the functionality of the prior app.
Issues with the new connector
- Orders no longer sync, meaning payments must be manually matched to orders
- All transactions are importing in USD despite settings being configured for GBP
- The ability to map when accounts retrieve orders has been removed
- Orders can no longer be imported as sales invoices
- All tax settings have been removed
- You can no longer prefix invoices with your own reference
The app is essentially non-functional. I have now had to source and pay for a third-party app to fix an issue that simply did not exist under the old connector.
Support experience
The support team has been unhelpful. They will not escalate the issue or arrange for a manager from the QuickBooks connector team to call me. Apparently they only accept chat - there is no option to speak to someone who can actually resolve the problem.
Avoid the native Shopify connector.

I have been having an ongoing problem with my display screen for the last 5 months.
These guys have been useless sorting out the problem and keep asking the same questions. In particular Jonathan and Taizan from QuickBooks Care team.

This last year using Quickbooks has…
This last year using Quickbooks has been impossible, constantly seizing when uploading bank statements, you then cannot do anything without refreshing and starting again. You then realise that some of the transactions actually uploaded during the seizing part, some transactions about 5-6 times, so you go through 1000's of lines to match transactions against your bank account, then you have to go into all of the 1000's of duplicate records individually to delete. I will be moving off of Quickbooks once finished my books this year and looking elsewhere, I think a spreadsheet or paper ledger would be a better option for me as this has taken days and days and days..........

If I could give 0 stars I would!!! Absolutely HORRIFIC company. We pay £70pm for a system that does NOT work. They dont have a complaints team and if you file a complaint for anything not working it will be ignored for month. Once they do get in touch they ask you to 'turn the computer on and off' and that SHOULD fix the issue. It's beyond ridiculous. Márcio

Was good for 2 years, but when I upgraded to advanced payroll, things went wrong. There is a glitch they cannot fix meaning I cannot submit to hmrc. This has caused me a great deal of stress and £100's in lost time and revenue. 4 times I have been with support. easch time it has been escalaleted then they have closed the case without warning, when i had not had enough time to do the response of required information. i am not the complaining type, but now i feel stressed, angry and disapoointed. Lokk elsewhere.
